With spring and fall temperatures cold in the morning and warmer in the afternoon, I have a problem while driving with the temperature setting. If set on max heat and then want to change the temperature to less heat or cold a/c altogether, the temperature will stay on that max heat setting. I have to turn off my engine for 30 secs (sometimes longer), set to a cooler temp and then resume driving. I did however accidental find a way around this issue. If I have the heat setting less than max heat or greater the than the coldest setting, I can fluctuate in temperature without a problem. So for now on, no max settings for me during the spring and fall.

same exact issue with my truck, but some times it will only blow hot air only and no temp. control at all, even when I shut the truck down for more than 10 to 15 minutes.
Very annoying when mornings are chilly and afternoons are in the 80s.I have even left the air button on and temp to full cold and after 10 hrs of work, no a/c just heat and lots of it.

Once I'v warmed the cab up and am on the road i start to sweat so I turn the temp. control to cool or medium but nothing happens. The only way I have found to solve the problem is pulling over shutting the truck off and waiting 5-10 mins to start again
Any info would be great. The GM dealership said it must have just been a one time deal (bulls**t). Its been plaguing me since I bought the truck in 2004

I have the same problem. If I'm on a trip I have to stop and turn the engine off and then wait about 30 seconds, then restart on the cold side.

temperature control problems. first experience within 30,000 . had temporarily repaired by dealer 3 times under warranty still not fixed, now have 130,000 miles. each time took to different dealer and they gave me 3 different responses but all said it was taken care of. Mainly 2 problems:
1. temp control stuck: whatever the setting when starting the car, that temp will stay until car is turned off and longer, usually ok in a couple of hrs or next day. so if temp is on hot, then you can turn to cold after car's running for awhile, but hot air will still prevail. and vice versa. a problem in spring and fall because mornings are still cold, you turn the heat on but when it warms up and you to adjust to mid temp heat keeps cranking. even though air conditioner works fine if car started with cool temp, it will only have hot air if car is started with hot setting. if cool air is started and later want heat, will stay cold.
2. once the heat is activated, even if you want it on in winter it puts out more and more heat after driving on highway, on long trips greater than 2 hours, i need the windows open with 15 deg F outside. too excessive
Tried with warranty and they wouldn't fix it, so I did want to take in and pay for repair after warranty expired, but would like to know what the solution is

My issues mirror what most everyone says. The temperature control has no effect controlling temperature. Sometimes its hot and sometimes its cold. The temperature cannot be set it has a mind of its own. Very frustrating to be in a vehicle that has no heat when its cold and the A/C pumps out hot air when it hot. Sometimes you can hit it lucky to where your A/C works when you want it to. But you can count on hot hot air if the heater was working prior to switching to A/C. Additionally the back lights for the temp control panel will not light up right half of panel until you tap on the face then it lights up. D.Felser
