I have it torn apart and trying to remove motor, thought it was motor or is that the same as regulator?

Both windows stopped going down. Dealer said Chevy used cheap parts and has been a problem on these vehicles. A lot of money to fix and should be covered by Chevrolet. Will contact GM.

I have a 2003 Silverado 2500HD that continues to require replacement of the power window regulators. Are many other Silverado owners experiencing an excessive failure of these regulators? We shouldn't have to continue to pay for a poorly engineered or produced product.

I have a 2003 Silverado 2500 HD. The passenger side window used to go up and down and would sometimes stop. Then, after slamming the door a couple of times it would work again. Then, it just stopped working all together. I think something might be loose in there, am not sure. The dealer charges $80 to just check out the problem and find out what it is. Am wondering if it's something I can do myself.

Why in the world wouldn't they put a by pass switch on the vehicles that have power windows so that when this does occur... u have a way of putting the window up. May be it's time these over paid engineers get on their asses and put it on vehicles or go back 2 crank windows and make life easier.
Not all of us have the money 2 pay 2 go 2 the dealer 2 get our vehicles fixed and have 2 do it ourselves or have a buddy who knows do it cheaper for us... so think about the by pass or get better parts.

The whole right passenger door window would go up or down I check everything and had to bring truck in to get door reprogrammed.

Driver's side power window motor broke. Window was rolled down at the time and would not roll up....did I mention it was February in Minnesota. Had to force the window up and tape it there until I could get to a dealership.

Driver's side window went down and wouldn't go back up at 40K miles. Dealer replaced regulator and motor for $400. I was told by the dealer that this happens all of the time with the Silverado windows. Since then, both passenger side windows have stopped working within two weeks of each other. No help at all from GM - they say it isn't a common enough complaint for them to take any action. I told them that three of the four windows in my truck have had it - how common do you need it to be! I'm going to fix the two passenger windows myself and just wait for the last window to fail - I know it will...

Well just like some of your previous owners I to have a 03 Silverado with a non working drivers side window. Seems to me that by the complaints it's mainly trucks up in the northern part of the country. I haven't contacted my dealership because I'm tired of getting " there's no recall for your truck on this problem". The dealership and GM told me recently my truck is not covered by the recall for the anti-lock brakes, even though it is doing the exact same thing that the recall is about. No wonder they're having so much trouble selling their vehicles. I know I won't buy another GM product.

Newest problem with this 2003 Silverado. Both windows going up and down very slowly or not all the way up, then mid winter, polar vortex winter by the way, they quit working all together and of course got stuck in the down position. Had to manually force up and stuff material around edge to keep wind out until fixed. Have never had this problem on any other vehicle owned. Happened about 160000 mile mark. Over $400 to fix ONE Window!! Had my brother in law fix for cost of part. Still cost me $170.00 and still have broken passenger window. Very Dissapointing Chevy!!
