A/C randomly switches to high heat. Passenger side stays cool. I can turn off the truck and turn it back on and then everything will be cool again.
Sometimes it does this once a week, other times it is more often.
Came here looking for help and already fixed the blower wires under the glove box that burnt out last year with hefty aftermarket wires which don't burn out (so far).
I'm in FL and having heat blown in your face when it is already in the mid to upper 90s is not fun.

About a month ago I disconnected negative battery cable, reconnected it and all of a sudden passenger side A/C started blowing out hot air. I reserached problem and started looking for problem, I found the burnt A/C resistor. Chevy wanted $60 and also $112 for a thicker gauge harness. Why should I have to pay for something their engineers screwed up on. Harness over heats and melts terminals. Now don't you think that should be a recall, major fire hazard. And they know about this to. Well replaced it with an aftermarket resistor for $30 at checker's, and I still have hot air. Can't afford fix at this time. But chevy has a lot of issue's with all 2004 trucks and suv's. Seriously considering other then chevy. Sad but true.

I want to know how dealerships can sell you a vehicle they know nothing about and can't fix Our truck a/c stops blowing cold air and starts blowing hot air and then you can't get the a/c back on. When it's 90 degrees out and your a/c starts blowing hot air you can't get the truck cooled back off after shutting it off. We asked Conklin cars about it (where we bought the truck) and told us they had heard about the problem but then said they didn't know what caused it or how to fix it. They could have at least offered to find out since we bought it there, but I shouldn't have been surprised since they told me not to bring my 1991 Camaro back when they couldn't fix it.

High setting stopped working associated with burning electrical smell. Found pin 7 on A/C blower motor resistor assembly overheated/burned. Power is too great for contacts and should be recalled before someone gets burned.

While vehicle air conditioning is on, it will stop blowing cold air and start blowing hot air for no reason. If you restart engine it will blow cold air for a few seconds then start blowing hot air again. Have noticed that even when you turn off ac/heat still blows hot air out of vent by feet.

Sometimes the heat on the driver's side just goes to full blast- even with the A/C on or the heater. It stays on until the engine is shut off and restarted. Then, it goes again for a random amount of time. I've had the trim off on the dash, but can't see much from there. I would like to fix this myself as I'm retired. Any ideas or thoughts?

the vehicle computer has the codes that flag this problem so it is fairly simple to document the problem. Our problem with the heating being stuck on High was intermittent but was a total pain. The dealer removed the dash to fix the problem.

As I read from another complaint, the ac on the driver side blows hot air, while the passenger side blows cold. Now both sides blow lukewarm. In Florida that makes the inside of the vehicle hotter than outside and I am not into saunas. Has anyone recently had this problem and what really fixed it?
