Silverado HD2500 6.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 91,000 miles

Lost my tach, then speedometer on my 2004 SILVERADO 2500 HD. I was informed the instrument cluster was bad and requires replacing. I was not informed of any prior recalls, no initiative on dealer to assist me with the problem. Pay the $375, thank you.

How ungrateful is that? Thank you very much!!

Silverado 5.3

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

So what hasn't gone wrong with my POS 2004 Silverado 1500 2wd 5.3L.... 1. clicking (not a clunk) from either front end when I turn really all the way L or R 2. steering column clunks (replaced once already)..parts probably from china 3. ABS light is on 4. speedo doesn't work in over a year (one mechanic told me he couldn't fix it and the dealer would have to b/c it is connected to the engine block) 5. seat heater went out

GM needs to quit making trucks unless they are truly AMERICAN made!!

Silverado LS 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 77,721 miles

I called GM back in 2008 and 2010 about my speedometer and Radio CD player and they stated I'm responsible even though there's recalls ( 15) for my truck. I just want to find a Lawyer that handle unfixed recalls and have my sh*t right. A BAD PART IS A BAD PART and mileage has nothing to do about that. they never contacted me about any of this. Customer service and quality assurance score "F".I'm not going to let them off on this fix.

Silverado V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,000 miles

Speedometer gradually started going down while driving on the interstate. I looked down and it read 50 so I sped up then it read 45. I was saying there was no way I was going 45. Funny how alot goes wrong right after the warranty runs out. Thinking of trading it in for a Toyota. Anyway, after coming to a stop it hasn't worked since.

Silverado 2500 HD 6.0L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

my speedometer went out on me in October on the way home from military drill, and have not had it replaced due to the ridiculous price, when it should be replaced for free. I have always been a big fan of chevy and finally purchased my first chevy truck in 2006 when returning from a year deployment in iraq. I truly thought that chevy would fix a problem like this if it were to ever happen. It is so sad that people spend so much money on a vehicle they truly believe in and can't even get a recall on something that has been going on for a while. Now I am stuck driving back and forth 520 miles from Georgia to Arkansas to see my family with a broken speedometer because I cant afford to get it fixed when it shouldn't have went out in the first place. I really hope this problem gets fixed because I will continue to drive this truck with a broken speedometer.

Silverado Texas Ed 4.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

well it started off as the oil pressure went to the top of the gauge and just sat there.. i knew it wasn't really a problem cause i never had any engine problems, shortly after that i was driving home one evening just keeping up with traffic and looked down and i was doing 140 MPH! so i went home, shut off the truck and it was showing around 60 with the keys out... i restarted the truck and it fell to 40 sitting still, the next morning i started it and it went down to around 20... so i knew it was just the little stepper motors not getting all the way back to zero on the cluster reset... i took it in and the dealership replaced the cluster under warranty... hasn't happened since...

my only complaint was that they had to order the cluster, they didn't have one in stock...

Silverado 1500 W/T 4.8L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,500 miles

I went to my local dealer today and they told me a notice would be coming in the mail for this problem. The notice was sent in November 2007 and said it would be covered at 7 years or 70,000 miles. Since my truck is at 72,500 miles, the dealer would not cover the cost. I never have received the notice, but called 1-800-222-1020 and spoke to an operator, who in turn called the dealership I was at and they said that it would be covered even though I was out of the warranty.

Silverado LX V8

Speedometer and Tach are below zero when stopped with the engine running. At freeway speeds, Tach is at 500rpm, speedometer at 30 MPH. Temp gauge halfway from bottom to 210, never seen that before. Turned off engine at home and turned on again, temp gauge went to 260, never seen that before. Checked it next day, still pegged at 260.

my trucks speedometer has been acting up also. i have found out that if you start up your truck and it is at a number other than zero, like its frozen, you can turn your truck off and back on again a few times and it will get back down to zero. usually mine freezes at around 60 most of the time and it takes about 6 or 7 times of the on and off cycle to get its baseline back to zero.

Silverado LX 5.7

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

With less than 50000 miles on this vehicle the speedometer went haywire, sometimes its pegged out and other times it is on 0 constantly, I have contacted GM they say their is no recall, I have a friend who purchased the same vehicle year make and model in the same town and his is doing the same exact thing, tell me people this is unreal, something needs to be done, I took it back to the dealer and they wanted me to pay between 500-1000 to have it worked on, I said no way!
