problem #2

Nov 122015

Silverado SS V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

Driving to southern Illinois on Nov. 12 ,2015===ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY .....WHEN THE REAR BUMPER FELL OFF......IT WAS HANGING W/ A SINGLE SMALL STRAP HOLDING IT TO THE TRUCK.......ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY..... IF THIS WOULD HAVE BROKEN OFF IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH DEATH FOR THE VEHICLE FOLLOWING........I PULLED OFF TO THE SHOULDER OF THE INTERSTATE AND WAS THANKFUL IT DID NOT INJURE OR KILL SOMEONE BEHIND ME.....THE CORROSION FOR THIS BODY & BUMPER IS UNBELIEVABLE......GM SHOULD ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM AND PAY FOR REPAIRS & REPLACEMENT OF ALL PARTS.

GM SHOULD NOTIFY ALL SILVERADO OWNERS VIA A RECALL & MAKE NECESSARY REPAIRS .. BEFORE A DEATH OCCURS .

excessive corrosion excessive corrosion excessive corrosion excessive corrosion excessive corrosion excessive corrosion

undercariage is badly corroded, the shock mounts are gone

the rear brake line corroded so I removed the bed to make the repair easier, when I took the bed off the entire frame was badly corroded. The upper shock mounts which is part of the frame are completely gone, the rear strap which holds the gas tank on is hanging on by a thread, the entire frame rails are badly corroded, the front a-arms are badly corroded the drive shaft is badly corroded, The only thing that isn't corroded is the exhaust and my license plate. I called the NTSB and lodged a complaint about the brake lines and frame. THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IF YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM! If enough people complain they will force GM to Recall the truck. Next I called GM and got a case #, they told me to bring it to a dealer .I did that and they told me it was from the salt they use on the roads and not a defect, although they offered me a $5,000 customer loyalty rebate. All the dealers are aware of this problem and if your lucky will give you $5,000 for a trade. blue book is $15,000 in fair cond. This is totally unacceptable, and GM should accept responsibility for a sub standard frame! There need to be a class action suit brought, but again YOU NEED TO MAKE A RECORD OF YOUR VEHICLES PROBLEM.
