This is very irritating when you put the brake on it makes a terrible noise and pulses the brake. It sucks and is embarrassing.

was told by repair shop should be covered at dealer because gm knows of the problem and has fixed them for free--took it to dealer--they said not covered--only some older vehicles??-the sensors rust and need to be sanded or replaced--the dealer wanted to replace them for 500.00+?--i asked -wont they rust again?-- he said no because now we use a special lubricant?-which tells me they've known about the problem and have not issued any recalls--thanx again gm

Definitely poor design failure. In Minnesota a lot of salt is used on the roads in the winter, this causes the wheel hubs to rust and push the wheel speed sensors up out of the wheel hub just enough so that the sensor is to far from the axle and can't register a rotation. When that happens, the computer thinks you are going into a slide and applies the ABS. I have already had to replace them again at 60K.
