Activation of ABS braking system on 2006 Silverado 1500 on clean dry pavement at low speed resulting in increased braking distance. Problem seems to be increasing in frequency..

2006 Chevrolet Silverado extended cad 4X4 had the ABS kick in at low speeds, when not needed. This was part of a recall for earlier model year trucks of the same make and model but was never fully corrected by GM.
- Harwood, MD, USA
ABS activates at low speeds. Dealer states nothing can be done to permanently resolve the issue. Nov 2009 (13000 miles)had the speed sensor replaced. Oct 2010 front brakes replaces(22000 miles) now December 2010 with 24000 miles happening again.

The ABS system in my 2006 Chevy Silverado does not function properly at low speed. The ABS activates when braking causing the vehicle to travel further when coming to a stop. After researching the problem on the internet I found that this is an ongoing issue with GMC vehicles.
- Hudson, NH, USA
2006 Chevy Silverado truck front ABS antilock sensors failed due to corrosion GM had a recall 08/30/2005 for same problem on 2002 models, they knew about this in 05 (when my truck was built) but only admit to 2002 models NHTSA campaign # 05V37900 - think this needs to be extended to all models they built this way.
- Lawrenceville, NJ, USA
2006 Chevy Silverado truck with 9480 miles. When coming to a slow stop ABS system on right side would engage under normal stopping and cause truck to lurch. Problem was a cracked speed sensor on that side - replaced part, normal braking returned.
- Hazle Township, PA, USA
Continual unwanted ABS activation during low speed brake application on a 2006 Silverado. Virtually the same problem that was addressed by NHTSA campaign id number 05V379000.
- Syracuse, NY, USA
The ABS on my 2006 Silverado activates on low speed stops on dry pavement causing the brakes to release. I have almost rear-ended vehicles because of this. The dealer says I have to pay to get it fixed. I've been out of warranty for only 2 months and there's only 19,000 miles on the truck. There's a Chevy tech bulletin out on the problem too. Why hasn't there been a recall" how can I get the dealer to correct this flaw in their ABS system without paying $700"

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the rotor on the vehicle's brakes is warped. While driving 55 mph, the front axle pulsates and shakes when the brakes are applied. The failure occurs under any road conditions. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure. The engine size was unknown. The current mileage is 22,000 and failure mileage was 18,000.

In Nov. Of 2005 I purchased a Chevrolet Silverado, I have had nothing but problems with it. I have had the rear brakes and rotors replaced 3 times and the front once, also the fuel system had a problem, now they tell me that I need all tires replaced because the compound is bad. My truck only has a little over 7,000 miles on it!
