Silverado LT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 149,000 miles

Service airbag light comes on and stays on. Contacted General Motors with no results. Had it diagnosed and they say it is airbag sensors. Researched this issue and it is a common problem on the Silverado.

Update from Dec 12, 2017: will be fixed at the cost of about 300 dollars was told need them working feel it is a common problem for gm so they should fix it at there cost or me get reimbursed

Silverado LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,351 miles

My local mechanic (large main stream repair shop) cannot get to the error code to ascertain what the problem really is. Looks as if GM is forcing me to take it to their shop due to their proprietary codes.

Silverado WT 4.3L

  • Manual transmission
  • 22,000 miles

THIS TRUCK WAS PURCHASED NEW ON JAN.8, 2007 WHEN THE TRUCK HAD ONLY 22,000 MILES. 2 YEARS LATER THE AIRBAG LIGHT FROM HELL BEGAN. I TOOK TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CONNECTION NEEDED GREASE ON THE CONNECTIONS AND ALL WOULD BE WELL, NOT SO.

AS I SIT HERE AND WRITE THIS COMPLAINT ON 7-21-2015 THE TRUCK IS IN FOR THE 9TH TIME. YOU ARE SEEING THIS DATE CORRECTLY. I PAID THE DEALER OVER $600 ON JULY 8 2015, AS I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN. TRUCK WAS BACK 2 DAYS LATER AIRBAG SERVICE BEAMING AWAY WITH PRIDE.

I CALLED MY LOCAL CHEVY WHO HAD DONE THE CLOCK SPRING JOB AND WAS TOLD THEY CAN ONLY REPAIR WHATEVER CODE WAS PRESENT AT TIME OF SERVICE. I HAD A FEW CHOICE WORDS FOR HIM. ITS NOW JULY 21,2015 THEY HAVE THE TRUCK BACK AGAIN AND I STATED TO HIM TO KEEP THE TRUCK AS LONG AS NEEDED TO FIGURE OUT THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL. NO ADDITIONAL MONEY WILL BE SPENT ON THIS, AFTER ALL I DID NOT TAKE IT TO JOE BLOWS GARAGE FOR SERVICE, I TRUSTED MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER. AFTER ALL, YOU GUYS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE THE EXPERTS RIGHT?

STAY TUNED HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM YET BUT I TOLD HIM NO MORE BULLSHIT OR I WILL FILES A SUIT WITH THE CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY WISH ME LUCK.....

Silverado LX 4.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

I have no idea how many times this has happened, but the repair bill for this is going to be between 50-100 dollars. Yes, this is not that much, but if chevy has charged 100,000 people this amount, you see what I mean. When the "service air bar" light is on it is where the mileage is normally. After a while a person gets tired of seeing this. If chevy wants to sell more vehicles, they need to make and warranty their vehicles better. There have been other items that have fell apart on my truck. I bought the truck new, trying to stick to the "by american" ideal. I need another bigger truck, this problem has made a big impact on the decision of what brand I will be looking at from now on.
