Silverado 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

IT LOOKS LIKE I PARK ON TOP OF A SWAMP. RUST EVERYWHERE ON FRAME. IT IS A GM KNOWN ISSUE THAT THERE UNDERCOATING ONLY LASTS 1 YEAR. I HAVE A 2001 LEXUS AND A 2008 NISSAN ALTIMA AND DO NOT HAVE ANY RUST ON THESE CARS, NONE. IT IS A SHAME HOW MANY CORNERS GM CUTS. ONE WOULD THINK THE TRUCK WOULD BE THE MOST DURABLE AND DEPENDABLE, NOT THE CASE WITH SILVERADO

Silverado LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission

rust on rear bumper

Rust appeared on right rear bumper corner directly adjacent to the exhaust pipe. It could be removed (for the most part) by polishing the bumper. Dealer replaced end cap under warranty. The problem did not reoccur until I replaced the bumper with an aftermarket bumper after a parking lot accident. The problem reappeared within six months on the aftermarket bumper. This was not a fault of GM because I did not use a genuine bumper on the second instance.
