My 2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L has an oil consumption problem. It is in the shop as we speak. Mechanic says oil pump has a recall. So they call Chevy dealer warranty department and was told its outside the recall. I have never received anything nor heard of any recalls on 2010-2014 Chevy trucks. The dealership warranty department say the recall rights ended in 2011. How is that so??? If trucks from the year 2010- 2014 are having these problems? So now I have to get a rebuilt engine, and rent a car to get back and forth to work!!!! If this problem was a recall WHY will Chevy not pay for my BILL on an engine or offer new engine??

In January 2015 on the way to my Dad's funeral it was raining outside. By the time I got to the funeral home, which is about two miles away, my 2010 Silverado started running rough, spitting and sputtering, stabilitrac light, engine light, traction control light all came on. Day or two later had my truck towed to my dealer. Day or two later dealer says truck is fixed. They say it was misfiring that was blowing oil in engine where it wasn't suppose to be. Was under warranty. Didn't have to pay. Ever since I've had this truck, it has used oil somewhere some how. No leaks, no burn, and no smell. So that really bothered me.

In January 2016, on a rainy day, the same thing has happened. After taken my truck back to my dealer, days later have not heard from them. Called them and they said they are waiting. Waiting on what? Few days later contacted them again. They said think it may be a major problem, and they are still waiting. Waiting on what? A whole other week goes by and still nothing. No info on what problem is, what they are waiting on, no rental vehicle, no nothing.

Two weeks and a day later they call and say that they are waiting on Easycare extended warranty to come look at, to see if they will pay to fix it. Day later they call and say Easycare will pay. 100 dollar deductible, plus all expenses I have to pay for plugs, oil, oil filter, etc... that's not covered under warranty. Day later still waiting on them to get me a loaner vehicle when they said they would. Two and a half weeks later, that's all I know.

My beef and frustrations are that they knew this last year, but all they did was to patch it up and got back to me. Why didn't they do oil pressure test? Fix lasted less than a year. It was still under warranty through GM. Now it's under my extended warranty. Now its gonna cost me out of pocket that I don't have, when if they would of fixed the problem the first time it wouldn't of cost me anything. Pitiful. I know that GM has had problems about this for years, and I'm getting really pissed off that after I helped bail them out years ago, they want to treat us loyal patrons like they do. Want something done!

Engine starts shuddering, then service stable track light comes on, then traction control light comes on and then engine power reduced. I can pull off then road and let truck sit approx 1 min and the truck will run like it is supposed to or until the same thing will happen again and again. It happens every day and when the weather is cold it will stop running 4 or 5 times in the first 20 miles.

Ok 2nd problem in 2 months. Once again the service stabilitrack light was on but this time the service engine light was flashing. I took it immediately to the local mechanic who had just recently changed all the plugs and done an oil change. He said that the new plugs were all corroded and covered in oil and I was almost out of oil. There were no visible leaks and I had not experienced any smoke or smell of burning oil. He said it had to be an engine problem and should be covered under warranty. He instructed me to have the truck towed as it was not SAFE to drive it in that condition.

I had it towed, and the dealer ended up with it for over a week, and replaced the lifters. Claimed I had a broken lifter, but policy was to replace all 8. They also did an oil change at this time. I was unable to get a loaner vehicle but I had just purchased a Mustang to drive in good weather, so at least I did have transportation. Once I got the truck back, it was not driven a lot as I was driving the Mustang, but we do use it to pull our 30 foot camper for small trips.
