Silverado LT 5.3L Eco

  • Automatic transmission
  • 371 miles

I was driving the Truck after buying it three weeks ago new when the info. system stopped working right. After about 3 more short trips the 5.3 Eco tech engine completely failed. Vehicle was towed to the dealership. After a few hours I was advised that a spring in one of the pistons failed and caused major damage in the piston and the engine would have to be completely replaced. I was driving on city streets and I should add that about 5 minutes before the complete failure the truck stalled in heavy traffic. I was able to start it.

At no time did the engine lights come on or did the gauges show a problem. Replacement is going to leave me without a truck for 2 or 3 weeks. Dealership did give me a car to drive under the GM program.
