My 2012 Chevy Silverado with 5.3L has had lifters go out on three different occasions. Both left and right side lifter banks have been replaced, new camshaft, and on third incident the entire motor had to be replaced. I figured for sure that that would have corrected the problem, but no for the fourth time the lifters on the left side have gone out again. Luckily it is still under warranty, but GM needs to take ownership of this known lifter issue with these engines equipped with Active Fuel Management (AFM). The AFM is the root cause of the problem and there should be recall on this or all of them should be added to the lemon law, since all the motors with AFM will eventually have lifter issues.
