The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated the exhaust smelled like fuel, and was running rich on banks 1 and 2. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the high-pressure fuel pump was not working as needed and was adding excessive fuel to the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.
