Silverado 1500 Z71

  • Automatic transmission
  • 133,000 miles

2014 Chevy Silverado Z71 4x4. Maintenance records are spot on and rolling through 130,000 miles on the truck. I was on the way to work and it began to feel like I was riding a bull in the truck. Limped along to the Chevy dealer who dropped the pan and found metal bits and burned transmission fluid in the pan. Quoted $5500.00 to replace.

I told them to button it up and I towed it to my local shop hoping to replace it with a Jasper transmission to find out they don't carry that model. Out the door price was 5K with an OEM transmission. My shop uses BG products and I went back to them and BG is refunding me $1500 from their guarantee using their lubricants. I look forward to GM having the guts to recall these transmissions before a class action ensues.

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 102,800 miles

Bought the truck used from a local Chevy dealer almost 3 years ago with 78,000 miles on it. It was in great condition and had never been off road. It now has almost 103,000 miles on it (all commuting miles to and from work) and the transmission started slipping. A friend mechanic checked it out and says I need to replace the transmission. A transmission should last much longer than 103k miles especially when it has all been highway miles. Not happy with Chevy right now!

Silverado 1500

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,000 miles

After 3 different dealerships they finally addressed my problem since having the Truck. The first 2 dealerships could not find the problem and addressed other issues that might be the problem but never fixed the problem. I called GM and told them everything - they would not even budge to help out.

This would've been covered under the warranty if they would have addressed it when I bought it but they never could find the issue. They lied and told you they test drove it and when I did it I recreated the problem every time. All of the clicking, vibrating and hard shifting - it finally let go at 107000 miles when I couldn't get it passed 60 to 70 MPH and all it did was hesitate and rumble the entire time. We bought 2 different 2014 Silverados - one gray and the other green - and they both were issues. I am done with GM - it's been 41 years and I never gave up on them. But finally my last straw. I miss the Blazer. Never had an issue.

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Not sure what to do, when I test drove it seemed fine. Upon taking it home and driving at variable different speeds, noise, came from transmission, loud and hard enough clunk, to where I thought I could feel it myself.

Silverado 1500 LT V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 161,000 miles

I took truck in because it was making a clunking vibrating noise. NO CODE LIGHT EVER ILLUMINATED. They told me it was the battery!!! So me not knowing sh*t I said oh ok paid for battery.. 2 days later its still making the noise and I take it back to Winter Chevrolet and the service tech rides with me and tells me its NORMAL acceleration noise. I ask him again are you sure...yes he says. SO I leave.

The truck is still making noise and so I take it back because now its way worse and absolutely not normal. Mind you STILL no check engine light NOTHING. I take the truck back in and they are telling me its the transmission and I need a new one. They said they checked the fluid and its black and that its definitely the tranny. WTF no light? No warning, nothing.

As soon as we pay this crap down I'm getting rid of it and will NEVER buy a Chevy again. EVER. So far its estimated at 5K to fix and I have no choice but to fix it.

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,000 miles

2014 Silverado 1500, transmission clunk. This problem started before my 1st service was due. It feels like a bad universal joint, I crawled under the truck and found nothing wrong with the u-joints. I asked the dealer to check it out at the first service and was told they did not hear anything. Second complaint, same thing. Third complaint, the clunking was very noticeable, same thing. They could not duplicate my CLUNKING complaint.

I was pretty heated at this point and was not a pleasant person to deal with as I felt I was being put off until my warranty ran out. My dealer told me that GM has no record of such a problem with any 1500, BS as by this time you could go on multiple forums and see numerous trucks with the same complaint. I personally know other 1500 owners with the same complaint and similar BS response from their dealer.

GM may have passed the buck to the unfortunate owners of these trucks, but they have TOTALLY KILLED ANY LOYALTY TO GM for me. I have owned numerous GM cars and trucks over the last 36 years and have never even test driven other brands. I WILL NOT PURCHASE another Silverado, I WILL be shopping the other brands (along with quality research) for my next vehicle.

Silverado 1500 2LT Z71 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

I bought my truck used with 12000 miles on it. Not long after I got it I started noticing that shifting from 2nd down to 1st there was a clunk sound. I didn't pay much attention until the problem persisted. I've got a few friends that have Silverado as well that are 2014-2016 and none of them experience this problem. Here recently (now at 50,000 miles) it's getting worse. Some days it doesn't do it at all and other times it's very consistent.

I've read some of the same issues on here but I'm reluctant to take it to the dealer since there are no recalls and they more than likely won't be able to recreate it and will give me some BS about how that's normal. I also just had to spend $1400 on my AC so I'm not very happy with Chevy right now. I've never had issues like these before. I just don't want to spend the $80 fee the dealer charges to know that they're going to send me home with no answer and $80 less in my pocket.

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 54,000 miles

I bought this vehicle at 45,000 miles. I drove it maybe 2000 miles when I started noticing the clunk. I took it in, and they could not replicate, identify it told me it was nothing to worry about. Then scolded me for my driving habits??!! (Girl driving truck??) at 63,000 miles I took it in for a full service. They were supposed to flush the transmission, check all, etc. The clunk is WORSE. Again, I complained, they again tell me its NORMAL!! It's NOT NORMAL nor is it MY DRIVING HABITS (insulting!) This transmission has an issue especially when it gets hotter. I noticed it the most in stop and go traffic, and also when the temp reaches over 190 degrees. I will be vigilant about keeping reporting it until they do something about it, of course they are waiting for my warranty to run out............that's how I see it. I bought a Chevy thinking it was better than the Ford Transmission but now I am very disappointed.

Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

At 102,000 miles my transmission is going out. Before that, R&P. I still owe $20,000 on the truck and ready to drive it into a tree (not really, but that's how I feel). I paid over $54,000 for this truck and it should last longer that this. I can't keep putting this kind of money into something that I'm still paying for every month. I've never owned anything other than Chevy but this time I might be going to Ford.
