Silverado 1500 LS 5.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

This is the second windshield I have had to replace. Both cracked in the same place for no apparent reason. The cracks are located half way down at the edge on passenger side. I found no damage other than the crack, not sure what is causing it.

My nephew also had problem with the 2014 Silverado windshield. Safelight looked at it and said it appears to have just split, possibly a stress fracture.

Silverado 1500 V8

  • Automatic transmission

Drove truck to gas station... about 15 f, yes cold, fueled up the truck, used the windshield washer, and stared in awe, as the windshield cracked from one side to the other, windshield wiper area.......

I took it to the local Chevy dealer in Muncie, after looking at it with magnify glass, determined it not GM problem..............plus told me about 3 outstanding recalls... do you really want to buy GM any more? decide for yourself. I feel like they just don't care....

Update from Feb 27, 2015: here is the short story, be advised that gm will not replace glass, gm dealers are required to look at any glass , with a jewelers magnifying glass, they found a "spec" of sand ? on mine. this spec that they found cracked my windshield from one side to the other........... so be aware when your windshield cracks, if they find anything with the jewelers glass.............I am now out $500 plus a claim on my ins, and no truck for 3 days........................

this is not the dealers fault, GM requires them to find something with the jewelers glass...........................

Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 35,000 miles

Nothing immediately dangerous. Windshield cracked half way across without being hit or dinged by any type of projectile while driving about 25 mph with no vehicle in front. Heat differential? Sudden pressure spike from leaning forward to adjust radio volume? Aliens?
