In all the 40+ years of owning an array of vehicles, we have never had to replace the a/c condenser. The part was $380 and the labor was $1111!!! With the amount of early failures, this should have been a recall.

A/C blows hot air all of a sudden. I checked all fuses first, but all were good - except I could not tell on fuse #68, as it is solid black in color. My daughters A/C also has gone out in her 2015 Chevy truck too, and close to the same time frame. I want to be on the list for the class action suit over this.

I have never experienced vehicle A/C frustrations until I bought this vehicle. At best it can only manage ten degrees below outside temperature, and that’s right after a repair. The cooling performance will keep on deteriorating until it begins to feel like a convection oven.
First I had the system flushed, and it worked for about two days. Then a leak was discovered and the leaking part replaced. After about 2 weeks, I can feel temperature gauge slowly going up, and I know that in another 2 weeks I will be braking. I had wanted a different make and model, but the dealer convinced me that this was a better deal. I am now suffering the consequences, out of money and the heat to deal with.

Took in my Silverado 1500 to Dealership to diagnose why the a/c was blowing hot air. The technician diagnosed the problem as the cooling fans were inoperable. The mechanic stated he checked the fuses and wires through the connectors and found all were good, so the said the cooling fans needed to be replaced at $1900.00 for the repair. The technician said this is the reason the a/c was not working. I called BS on that.
Took my Silverado to a local mechanic shop. The found the problem that the system only had a few ounces of refrigerant in it. The recharged the system and added dye, found the gas escaping from the condenser. They replaced the condenser and recharged the system, and the a/c is blowing cold air.
Oh, by the way, the cooling fans are working. Watch out and keep your guard up when you go to the dealer for repairs.

I've owned many vehicles (not Chevrolet) that have never had air conditioning issues at 5 years old. This is ridiculous. I was thinking about buying the Chevrolet Traverse in the near future, but now I think I'll look elsewhere for an SUV. Their powertrain warranties have been degraded significantly, and from my experience it's not worth the risk of buying another Chevrolet.
It's scary. a $40 part that costs $700+ to repair, Chevrolet has lost their mind, and especially something so essential in the comfort of a vehicle that was purchased BRAND NEW. The LS is not the cozy buy, but you would think at least the air conditioner would last. Shame.

I also am having this blowing hot issue. So, I call my mechanic buddy and he told me what to check. Sure enough, I have oil residue on the drivers side top of the the condenser/crack. I looked up the issue on YouTube and found a tech bulletin for it. Well, they (GM) won’t cover this on the Chevy Silverado or the GMC truck. They will cover it on all the other models that have this same issue. What gives? Why not the trucks?
I bought my 2015 LTZ new and have 49400 miles on it. I’ve had vehicles with well over 200K on them with no AC problems. So, this is a known problem with these compressors and GM won’t fix it. Someone must have a class action on this already. Help me out and give me the firms name so I can jump on. No way I should have to pay for faulty material when they are covering them on other models... what a bunch of BULLS***.

Since March when the a/c is blowing air, it will not open up the defroster. I have to get a towel to clear the front windshield to see out of it. I really don't need this problem and how much it cost to get it fix, still making payments. I am highly pissed.

Chevy knows this is their failure and a problem, and lets us hang in the wind to fix their faulty parts and pay for the privilege. This is my first Chevy truck, and I can guarantee it will be my last!!!!!

I am 53 years old and only have purchased General Motors vehicles. This issue now that I find out that Chevrolet knew about it definitely makes me rethink who I will purchase from next. A covid lay off February 2020, a rare 123 year freeze in Houston and now trying to find another job but have to stop and pay for this condenser replacement! I feel that GM/CHEVY have let me down! Maybe looking at Ram next time. Thanks for nothing Chevy!!!

I purchased my 2015 Silverado about a week ago. Yes it was used but only 5 years old and after the purchase I have realized these trucks have way too many problematic problems that show up way too soon. I have always enjoyed owning gm vehicles up until now I truly regret ever buying this truck. I know one takes a risky chance when purchasing a used vehicle but this is ridiculous. I had to pay for a complete tune up on this truck and the day before going into the shop to be worked on I realize my A/C is blowing hot air. I find out it's the condenser is leaking and that it will need replacing. I understand tune ups are necessary I don't have a problem with that but to find out the A/C is problematic is not acceptable. Also I have learned the transmissions are causing tremendous issues. I just don't understand why GM would continue to allow these problems to go on without correcting these known issues. I know that in any vehicle used or new there are good and bad, but this is unacceptable it causes me to want to sale the 2015 Silverado and purchase a Ford. What I have learned through this entire process is GM is aware of these issues and law suits have been made and these issues keep happening. It's sad to say I didn't know I was buying a money pit. This is the newest truck I have ever owned and it has given me more problems than any other older truck I've ever had. Will I ever buy another Chevrolet again it will depend on the after effect of me replacing faulty parts on the truck out of my own pocket. O would have never thought I would ever say this buy Chevrolet trucks arent on the top of my list anymore.h

Dealership replacement cost $1200.00 WOW! If it was one of Gm's other vehicles it still would have been covered under warranty. Don't understand.

Chevrolet has a Special Coverage Adjustment on the 2015 Silverado AC condenser, all the 2015 models including the SUV's with this engine have this same problem. They are fixing the problem with the same defective parts. The parts are not available to replace the condenser. The dealership is trying to charge me 879+TAX for this repair. I have been given the run around from Chevrolet Customer Car. I called and was told it would be 3 business days before someone called me back. They never did. I called again and have to wait a additional 3 days before Carl called me back just to say he was going to reach out to the dealership to see what everyone could do. Carl has yet to call me back and has dodged my calls for 3 days. His voice mail is full and can not except messages. They are trying to offer me 10% repair discount. What ever! I have been on hold for several time in excess of 50 minutes. There have been 15 recalls for this automobile, I may have to file a lemon law complaint on it. Please add me to any actions that are being taken currently. I have also filed a complaint with the NHTSA.

Noticed the A/C was blowing out hot on one of the hottest days of the year. Never had a problem with it before. Did some research and found that it is a known issue with the condenser. Called the dealer and he said I would have to pay out of pocket to have it fixed. I saw there were a couple of class action lawsuits, so I email the law firm to see the outcome or to see if I can join it.

General Motors should have notified owners about the possible leak. That way, the A/C would work in the HEAT. I have not received and notification from GM about this problem. I should not have to pay for this.

It is a robbery by GM that after 36000 miles The ac breaks for using cheap parts and the customer has to pay $1572.

I realize that my mileage is over the limit for warranty on this part, but a cracked condenser on an otherwise no issue vehicle is a pretty big deal. Very annoyed that GM didn't offer a preemptive solution to this when first discovered, instead of owners waiting for the A/C to go out due to a common problem of cracked condenser.

I too purchased my 2015 Silverado new. It has 60,000 miles and the compressor went out (a crack). I was told by the shop that that day alone they fixed 4 Silverados 2015 with the same problem. Not only this but I also have a leak somewhere, headliner has water damage and the only place we can think of is the cargo light let water in during the 2 weeks of rain we had.
I checked and there seems to be a lot of this too which I took care of, but the compressor.. OMG really? I have asthma and I live in Texas so this hot Texas heat in a black truck, there is no way to go with out AC. When I called the Corp office for Chevy they just tell me sorry there is no recall.
To make things worse I called Young Chevrolet service dept at 7:27am on my way to the shop and the gentleman told me "there is nothing we can do. You can take it to any mechanic'. So we went to the the shop we have all of our company trucks fixed at. They (Corp Chevy office) told me I should have went to the Chevy dealer WHAT? Like I want another Chevy part (compressor) to pay for and it go out. NO, not happening.
I'm VERY angry with Chevy. They sure don't make vehicles like they used to!!! There are so many problems with the compressor on these vehicles. THEY SHOULD COVER THIS!!!!!

Bought my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 155 LT in Feb 2022. Didn't really need the AC until a 95*+ weekend in April. AC was blowing hotter air than the wind was blowing through our windows. Scheduled service at dealer, and I was able to have parts and labor covered under extended warranty. Just the hassle of not having AC when we needed it was aggravating. If this is such a common issue with the 15' Silverado, why wouldn't the dealership look at this before reselling the vehicle?
