Braking assist service warning message appeared on screen. Noticed braking assist is not working at low speed and idle. Requires significant foot pressure to have brakes work. No accident yet.

I have a 2015 Silverado 1500 5.3 with about 90K miles. While I was parallel parking, after the 2nd pump, I realized the truck wasnt stopping. I had to use both legs to make it stop before hitting the car in the back of me and almost crushing a pedestrian. My brake pads and rotors are fine. I do hear an abnormal noise coming from the engine area at all times. Kinda like a bad pulley bearing or something. Noticed it the day the truck started acting up. I looked online on mutiple websites and understand this is a common problem with the vacuum pump, brake booster and master cylinder. This should be a safety recall.

When attempting to brake, I pressed the brake pedal with appropriate force only to find that there was a loss of brake power... I would equate it to 85-90% brake loss. I was able to apply pressure as hard as I could and the vehicle stopped over double the usual stopping distance. I did end up going through the stop sign and was thankfully not hit. I pulled over and restarted my truck, I applied pressure to the brakes and all normal pedal feel has been restored.

At low speeds the brake pedal intermittently gets hard and makes it difficult to stop. It seems like there is no power brakes. Usually happens when parking. This has happened about 5 times.

Brake vacuum pump failed while on the freeway causing brake pedal to be unresponsive almost causing major accident. This is listed as under investigation. There was no warning or light. Brake pedal instantly became stiff and could not be pressed down. Chevrolet fixed this by replacing only the pump. It's recommended the vacuum lines and brake booster be replaced too due to potential oil leakage which states will cause pump to fail again. Chevy did not replace additional parts for me.

When travelling at low speeds, the brake pedal pushes all the way to the floor and does not fully stop the vehicle. On 3 occasions now, I have had problems stopping the truck while parking, coming very close to hitting another vehicle.

Brake suddenly became real hard and I couldn't stop the vehicle. I had to press real hard to get it to stop. I ran into the middle of the intersection at a red light fortunately no cars were close to that intersection at that time01

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While reversing out of the parking lot, the contact attempted to depress the brake pedal; however, they failed to respond. When the contact made a second attempt, the brakes responded and the vehicle stopped. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake vacuum failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 62,000. The VIN was not provided.

When coming to a stop in traffic the brakes failed to stop my truck. I was going straight at a very low speed. The pedal felt like I was pushing on a brick. I did get my truck stopped and got it off the road. I called my dealer who said they had not heard of this problem but thought it sounded like a brake booster failure. I called GM customer service who started a case # 9-5055710889, they told me that the truck was out of warrenty. Upon further reading I discovered the tsb for my truck to replace the brake booster, master cylinder, line, and vacum pump. The truck is being repaired now. My truck has 41,000 miles on it.

My truck brakes normally except when I stopped, then at low speed the truck fails to stop. I've almost gotten into multiple accidents (hitting walls, poles, a bus) and its even worse going downhill. It takes both feet and all my weight to get the truck to stop. Eventually someone is going to get into a bad accident because of this issue. Happens when going forward and reverse. I've read several articles about it on the internet and I've talked with GM techs and it's a bad problem with the vacuum pump. Please help!!!!

When slowing down to park, I lost braking and could not stop the truck. I had to put the truck in park to stop the momentum. This happened going in reverse. When taken to dealer I was charged $470.96 for parts and labor at N the vacuum pump which provides power for braking and steering.

Vacuum pump on 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 went out while driving on highway on July 8, 2018. Applied brakes and they were hard and would not depress. They eventually started to work so I was able to stop. This occurred off and on for over two weeks, usually at slower speeds, until I was able to get them fixed on July 24, 2018. See repair order. I wanted to file this because I saw the NHTSA was investigating faulty brake vacuum pumps and mine was not repaired at a Chevrolet dealer.

Vacuum pump. My vacuum pump went out as I was driving home on the highway. Every few presses of the brake pedal it would go all the way to the floor and it took much longer to stop. It was scary and I am very thankful I didn't get in a wreck. I got it fixed at my Chevrolet dealer. The cost for repair was $600. Worst part is my vehicle, a 2015, ony had 27,000 miles on it. Still feels new and the brakes failed.

On several occasions while backing down a sloped driveway while depressing the brake, the pedal has become hard to push and braking was almost impossible. This same problem has occurred while backing a trailer, it takes a greater applied force to depress the brake.

I had a brake defective vacuum pump on my on 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. I had the vacuum pump changed on 1/30/2019. My brakes were losing pressure when I was driving slowly. My brakes would lose pressure primarily while I was backing up. I have narrowly missed having several accidents (with other vehicles and property) due to the problem. On one instance, I lost brake pressure going down a hill. Braking distance was increased, and so were my efforts to halt my truck. I also noticed my brakes losing pressure after my truck giving me several alerts (while driving and parked) about servicing the trailer brake system. I am not sure if that has any bearing on the vacuum pump. I will also be replacing the trailer brake switch on my truck. I hope this fixes everything and I will not have that problem again. I did some research on the internet and it sounds like this is a common problem. This has been a particular problem with my truck since about August or so.
