Silverado 1500

  • 98,000 miles
Sudden loss of brakes while slow speed maneuvers such as turning and parking. Brakes either become very hard to depress or depress to floor. Very dangerous! Chevrolet has a tsb out because it is a known issue but has yet to be recalled. Most likely due to the expense related to the repair.$1500. Please address. Please reference Chevrolet's technical service bulletin (pit5361B) for more information.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 7 mph, the brakes pedal was depressed and failed to respond as the ABS warning light illuminated. As a result, the contact was still going 7 mph and allowed the vehicle to stop on its own. The contact turned the vehicle off and restated the vehicle to resume normal operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer allen turner Chevrolet (4150 S ferdon blvd, crestview, fl 32536, (850) 398-4105) where it was diagnosed that the brake vacuum pump failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.

When trying to park the brake pedal seems to become very stiff and the vehicle doesn't want to stop. I have to use all my weight on the pedal to get my vehicle to stop. It seems to always happen a slow speeds. I have been able to duplicate the problem when parking in my drive way, a parking lot, and it happened during a 3 point turn.

My truck has been modififed by either a powerful entity or by the dealership itself at the direction of a powerful entity. Truck has so many problems. I bought from same dealership out of show room and trusted them. After accident, air bags did not deploy and I couldnt figure out why. See burn marks around edges of airbags along with conductive string sew into them. Also noticed extra conductors added along with extra insulator layer. Cigarette outlets all manipulated after replaced with higher output plugs. Also found air bag sensors which are discontinuted as they belong to trucks from 2007-2009. Frame is for a 1ton truck which has beengreased front to back. Axels are clearly older and are labeled for a CK2500 (1 tom) model drive shaft and many other components have markings throughout to establish path of least resistance to guide short of electricity to driver to shock me. Modles modfified to gain access to truck. I am lucky to be alive. You guys have to see this truck in person. Way too uch to list. Dealership had it long time to do repairs. When taken back to them to figure out hwy the loud shakes, the dealershp certified shop tech stated everything is perfectl normal. That wa S a lie.eewwdduuuuuuuuuuuuuefu

My truck is 3 years old I have 39,500 miles. The vacuum pump has went out and I lose the ability to brake at times luckily my hill assist prevented me from rolling down a hill. Second time happened was in heavy traffic was able to pull off side of road before I rear ended another vehicle. There are numerous reports online with this affecting 2014-2018 models. Took to dealership this is a $700 replacement charge.

I 'am having trouble with my brake pedal getting hard when I come to a stop or when parking, at a stop sign, anytime I 'am at a stand still the pedal will get hard on me. This is a safety hazzard to me because if your not paying attention you could hit the car in front of you or behind you. This happens all the time !!!

The truck shakes at speeds of from 35 mph, then it stops and when driving on the highway at speeds between 60 and 70 on the thruway it shakes again. The vibration is transferred through the gas pedel and into the seats and console. Also when brakeing it shakes. Its been in for service several times for this since I bought it. Also the voltage meter drops and I lose dash board lights.this happens while the vehicle was in motion on both city and highway driving. I'm tired of loseing valuable days off to drive up to denooyer Chevy in albany to have them look at this again. The truck travels straight and true but shakes at those speeds, sometime it makes a drowning sound as it happens.its in the front end part of the suspension I believe. The tires were all high speed balanced and air is perfect in all 4 tires. Has anyone experienced this?

While driving into town from a weekend trip, when trying to stop for a red light from the highway, the brake pedal immediately became stiff and wouldn't slow the vehicle. It required both feet pressing down hard on the pedal in order to stop the vehicle in time. After turning off the truck and restarting it, the brake pedal released its pressure and I was able to drive normally. However, when coming to a stop to back into my garage, the brake pedal again, was under pressure, and would not stop my vehicle unless excessive force was applied. I was able to stop the vehicle, just feet from the wall in the alley. I believe this is a major safety concern. Luckily, I didn't have any issues while going 75 mph on the highway, or I probably wouldn't be able to write this. I was able to get the vehicle towed to my local Chevrolet dealership and was told they the vacuum pump was the cause of this issue. After having to shell out more than $700 on a part for a truck that's a 2015 with 63,000 miles with no other issues, is ridiculous. This is a major safety concern while operating the vehicle, and it should be covered by Chevrolet. This isn't a part that should fail on the vehicle.

At low speeds and or starting from a stop and reapplying the brakes the brake pedal gets extremely hard and will not hold the vehicle from rolling forward. You must press the brake pedal as hard as you can with both feet to try to keep the vehicle stopped. I have to put the vehicle in neutral at each stop. Each occurrence has happened on a city street.

My brakes failed to work when I was pulling into my parking lot. It seems to happen intermittently and only at low speeds. The brakes worked again later in the day. I took the vehicle in to the dealership I purchased it from (river view Chevrolet in mckeesport pa) and they said they did extensive test but could not recreate the issue and could not find a problem that would caused the brakes to not work.

Takata recall.. while driving my truck, 2015 Silverado with only 38K miles.. a (warning light ) displays (service trailer brake system) it continues to chime & display on the dash non stop even if I have a trailer hooked up to the truck or not & it does not matter what speed I'm driving. This is a safety issue due to when I am towing my trailer as soon as it displays the service trailer break system light, I lose the ability to use my electric trailer breaks until the display shuts off.. it would be appreciated if this issue can be checked in to.. I did see they had a recall & the same issues for the 2014 models but not the 2015

Very stiff brake pedal while trying to park at slow speeds. Could not press the pedal hard enough to stop the vehicle while I was backing into my parking spot. This is very dangerous as there are pedestrians and other vehicles in the parking lot. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. It also happened when I backed into my parking space when I returned home.

Silverado 1500

  • 45,066 miles
My complaint or safety notice is that on August 12 2018 the brake pedal on my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 began compressing a short distance and then became extremely hard, the vehicle is by all physical means nearly impossible to stop even at a very slow speed. I had my truck towed to my dealer believing it was not safe to drive, and was advised that the "brake system vacuum pump and booster had failed due to internal contamination. There is no warning in the vehicle sensing system to advise the operator to have the brakes serviced for this issue. Chevrolet issued a technical service bulletin (tsb #pit5361A & #pit5361B) in 2016. Obviously they are aware of the problem. Mine brakes failed after just pulling in my driveway from a 600 mile trip. Had this happened at highway speed, I would have likely been injured or killed, as would any vehicle occupants in a car I could have potentially hit. I have researched the problem online, and there are an endless amount of complaints posted for this exact problem. Unfortunately there has been no recall that I can find. It will cost me $1626 for the repair, I assume the replacement parts are the same type that failed. Undoubtedly someone is going to be seriously injured or killed, there are individuals and families driving around as I write this complaint that are unaware their brakes might fail the next moment they need them. Ask yourself if this has already caused serious injury or death, but the failure perhaps could not be pinpointed due to the damage of the crash, remember there is no sensor or warning for this issue being logged into the cars computer system. Odds are this has already caused harm. I'm asking that a recall be implemented and a safety warning be immediately released for vehicles that have this design flaw in the braking system. Your immediate intervention could save a life.
