I was going through a drive through restaurant, stopping and starting with cars in front of me. When I tried to stop the brake pedal became very hard to push and vehicle didn't want to stop. I shut off the vehicle and restarted. The brakes reverted back to normal. Had I not been going moving slowly this default would have caused an accident.

Breaking at low speed in traffic or a parking lot the breaks grab, skip and the truck vibrates before coming to a stop. Returned truck to glendora Chevrolet where purchased. They performed recall N192268490, updated ebcm, wcc:28yn28468172 per receipt they gave me. Vacuum pump was replaced. All this did not correct the break problem to this day. Please advise.

Silverado 1500

When I step on the brakes it gets really hard and will not stop. It happened to me in a parking lot. I was pulling into a parking spot and did not stop. Then when I was driving down the road I rear-ended someone and I was not driving very fast. My concern is that if a child or car runs out in front of me I wil not be able to stop. This has happened several times now. I have paid mechanics to replace my brake pads, calipers, disc's because I do not want to hurt myself or someone else.

While driving, the radio and all other electric components will go dark or quit working altogether, including the ac blower, compressor, headlights, etc. Sometime I get the stabilitrack alert with 3 or 4 tones, which resets automatically. When waiting in a drive through line today, when I depress the brake pedal, it happens again. While waiting in line, I sometimes put the transmission in park. When I depress the brake, and move the transmission control into drive, it happens, and more frequently, the engine shuts off. When turning the wheel, the power steering seems to go out, making it almost impossible to turn the vehicle, all the while the stabilitrack alarm goes off, the headlights go dark, the ac shuts down, the dash display goes dark, the door locks cycle up and down, and the engine shuts down. Today, it almost caused me not to negotiate turning from a major road into a parking lot. I lost all power to the steering, the engine shut down, and my brakes were non-existent. After reading other complaints on here, I decided I needed to tell my story. I received the recall notices, and have not ventured to the dealership for repairs, fearing exposure to the covid-19 virus. After reading everyone else's problems, and hearing that even the recall repairs do not fix the problem, I cannot help but wonder if there is more going on here than GM is willing to admit. I will not let my wife drive this vehicle, because if it happens to her, there is no way she can maneuver a stalled vehicle with no power steering and no brakes. So it looks I have the same story as others, and no real solution to my problem that the dealerships are willing to fix, or even admitting that there is a problem.

While driving the brake pedal pivot nut came loose and fell onto my foot, the brake pedal was then loose and moving back and forth. This is exact what is described in a GM recall 18278 brake pedal pivot nut, reference number: N182165530. Except that the recall did not cover this truck.

The trailer brake system light keeps coming on and I have never hooked up to a trailer that has brakes. This lights comes on sporadically. Concerned as I have heard that Chevrolet uses too light of wire in their light trucks. The truck is in motion when this happens. It comes on in all driving conditions (city, freeway, highways, gravel roads...).

I was backing up my Silverado and my trailer at slow speeds and the brakes became very stiff and I continued to roll after stepping on my brakes. Luckily I was in a street and not able to cause damage to anything behind me. This was after I already got the recall taken care of. It was concerning because this was not the first time this has happened, as I have experienced this before the recall as well. I notice this stiff brake mostly at slow speeds and have noticed it mostly when going in reverse.

Catalytic converter failed with less than 80,000 miles. The truck was taken to dealership, denooyer Chevrolet, from which it had been bought new and by which it had always been serviced to remedy the check engine light prior to 80,000 miles with authorization to perform any diagnostic and remediation covered under warranty. Dealer did not make repair and advised it would cost me hundreds of dollars to even find out what was wrong. I now have taken the truck to a separate shop for diagnosis and was told a catalytic converter has gone bad. However, I am now slightly at 89,000 miles. Dealer is saying warranty on catalytic converts expired at 80,000 miles. Front brake rotors warped within the first year of ownership. A/C cooling coil cracked under 80,000 miles as well due to a faulty part, and apparently that warranty expired at 30,000 miles.

Brakes worked great during three hour drive until I put the vehicle in reverse. The rpms dropped and while I was backing up I had to use both feet to stop in time before hitting a parked vehicle. This problem needs to be fixed asap and there are many forum reviews of the same issue

Menards entrance parking lot, approaching a left turn into the parking lot, applied brakes and slid into the corner pole located on the South side of the building, truck was unable to stop!, causing damage to the front end of my vehicle and causing physical damage to my wife. Before accident happened I did report the faulty braking system to local GM dealership 3X, still having issues, 2nd accident in a parking lot truck again wouldn't stop! running into the side of a cement parking wall, this is when I brought it in the 4th X and they tell that it was fixed! and again while driving out of the dealer ship shop drove about a mile, coming to park the truck again wouldn't stop had to avoid hitting a oncoming car that was leaving that area. After all this I contacted GM headquarter and they sent a inspector out to inspect the vehicle, recently contacted me and explain that well the truck was in an accident! and they replaced the vacuum brake with a new one! the truck is operating okay! already frustrated asked what about the damage to the truck! and to my wife, response I will have to get back to you! did get back to me well we can pay for the side of the truck damage but that's it, what about my wifes neck injury, no reply, ask to get him a estimate and fax. So that's where im at with this, still waiting, with my wife still enduring pain after the 1st accident. No satisfaction yet.

Silverado 1500

  • 73,000 miles
I own a 2015 Silverado high country with 73K miles. Over the past month or so - when backing into a parking garage spot at work, I have lost most of the braking power. The brakes felt really hard and felt like it was all the way to the floor. I was able to stop the truck by pressing the brake pedal hard real hard several times in order to stop safely with out running into the retaining wall. This issue has happened several times when pulling into my driveway or a parking spot at a grocery store. I almost bumped a car in front of me in a parking lot spot and decided to start parking out further to keep from hitting any other vehicles. At my most recent oil change, I received a report that my brakes were all "good" based on the service tech's inspection. This is a really dangerous situation that needs to have a recall placed to GM to get this issue fixed on all affected trucks.
