I bought this vehicle last November from Shea. When we bought the truck we noticed the check engine light, but was told that we would have to bring it back in for inspection. The last vehicle we bought from Shea it had a 30 day return and it would fix any problems. Not so with this time. So, we purchased a Platinum warranty which was a little above $2K and we believed would cover these issues. That was not the case. We had a friend of ours who is a GM Mechanic look it over and told us that it needed a high pressure fuel pump. So when I brought the vehicle in on January 22nd I told the service person at the desk that we had a platinum warranty and told him that I had a GM technician tell me that it needed a high pressure fuel pump. After sitting for six hours he comes out and tells me that I needed a high pressure fuel pump and tells me it will cost me $1400+ to have it fixed and it would not be covered by my warranty. And then tells me that the work they did today would cost me $150. I told him when I came in what the problem was. I understand that they need to do their own diagnostics, but why didn't they tell me that the part would not be covered by the platinum warranty. We paid $23K for the truck, plus an additional $2k+ for the warranty and now an additional $1,400-$1,500 for the fuel pump. So, yes we are not happy and will give a second thought to ever using Shea again. I understand that this memo will not change things, but I want you to understand that prior to today's fiasco I have told friends that I would recommend Shea when looking for a vehicle. Now I would not recommend Shea to any of our friends. Sorely disappointed! To go along with the previous text, when I purchased the 2015 Z71 Silverado the key FOB fell apart so I purchased two (2) new ones at a cost of $225 each so that I could start my vehicle on cold winter days. So far, that was a waste of money a money also because the check engine light and the high pressure fuel pump

I began to smell gas near my gas tank. Upon further inspection, I noticed there was gas leaking down the side of the tank. I then tilted my truck bed to look at the leak from above the tank and I noticed that the plastic piece connector coming out of the fuel pump housing to the supply line was pumping a stream of gas all over the top of the tank. I went to disconnect the hose and the plastic piece broke instantly fully cracking apart. Thankfully this was in my driveway and not driving as this would have been very dangerous. There was no warning light and this would have sprayed fuel everywhere, especially at speed. There are hot parts all over there and would probably resulted in a fire, and at the very least the truck to shut off while driving. I did not take it to a dealer as the damage was extremely obvious. The truck has never been in a crash and I-??ve never changed out any components involving the fueling system, meaning that it simply broke apart on its own. This appears to be a common problem and yet it is not a recall. I had to spend my own money replacing the fuel pump and housing in the tank, as well as the supply line connector as the plastic on that also failed. I started smelling gas and then a few days later is when I found the issue, but I had been driving the truck, including at highway speeds. The truck has 100,365 miles and I-??m the original owner.

Randomly the brakes get stiff, even while on a hill or stop and go traffic. I noticed the first time after first buying it that while on an exit driveway at a decline, the brakes felt like they slipped or went away. I had to push them hard all the way down and thought I was going to roll into oncoming traffic. The truck soon after was making a noise and felt like it was losing power and revving after the keg was taken out and loss of gas mileage. The dealership confirmed the brakes vacuum pump and the high pressure fuel pump were both bad and the gas was leaking into the oil causing problems and possibly ruining the engine, they stated both would need to be replaced. Check engine light comes on soon after fresh oil changes everytime and codes were shown on computer for running rich. No codes after the initial oil changes due to the warning lights appearing after a good amount of gas has leaked into the oil.

There has been loss of power braking at low speeds. The brake pedal has a vibrating feel as it is pressed. The pedal will go down all the way to the floor with very little braking power. I took my truck in for the recall work for the same issue which had no effect. I had a prior problem with a fuel injector going out with less than 50,000 miles on the truck. This caused loss of power in situations where power is needed such as merging on to a freeway. This is a very dangerous situation where someone could be killed. Chevrolet says the fuel injector is not part on the engine even through the maniford had to be removed to replace it. The part was not replace under under warranty. This part should not be failing under any circumstance.

The engine has a ticking noise like a lifter out of adjustment. I'm told this is normal its a ticking fuel pump for the fuel injectors. I think GM is better than that and can figure out how to quite it down. If there engineers can't figure it GM should consider finding some that can! the next time I buy a GM product it will need to be quite if not I'll brake a family tradition for 80 years and buy another brand.
