Silverado 1500 LT Z71 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,000 miles

I drive a 2015 Chev 4x4 double cab. Awful clunking/shifting noise coming from the rear suspension, most probably the leaf springs. Dealer currently (on Sept. 19) saying it is drivetrain play and is normal. I know how each sounds and this is not drivetrain. Sadly, I read in a GMC/Chevrolet truck forum that even new replacement springs will do the same - as do new 2016 models. Very disappointing and definitely affecting my next purchase. At this point, this may be my last GM product.

Has anyone had any success in getting theirs fixed?

Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,000 miles

This is second time within 7 months of owning truck that it's been brought in for same issue. First time the left side of axle/ cv boot (joint) was replaced. This time they replace both sides and put a whole new axle on and so far it corrected the issue but it's only been two weeks.

If it happens again I will pursue the lemon law and look to replace it. Might switch to Ford but I am a Chevy guy at heart but won't tolerate a crappy vehicle with same issues. Once the warrant goes out I can only imagine how much it will cost me.

Other than that, the truck is awesome and it is a 4x4

Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,500 miles

Started hearing a popping/clicking noise in front suspension area most noticeably when the wheels were turned. Dealer said it was an issue with front CV boot/joint so they replaced it ( one side). 3 months later same issue. Sounds like lug nuts are rolling around inside hub cap.
