Silverado 1500 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles

Purchased a new Silverado 1500,5.3 liter,4 wheel drive in November 2016. Never really noticed the hesitation/engine stumble on the test drive. After purchasing I started noticing hesitation almost immediately. I waited till my first oil change at the dealership to report my complaint. They told me that they were aware of the issues and that a lot of other people were complaining about the same issue. They told me their was not a fix for it at that time but they felt confident their would be . I took it in between oil changes and asked them to do a engine scan on it. I was told that their was no trouble codes listed and the engine/transmission was working as designed. They also told me that the engine needed time to learn my driving habits. So I had to learn to like the way it drove. It seemed like to me that the problem was in the engine and not the transmission. Every time I stopped at a red light , you could feel the quiver in the engine. With the hood open, you could see the engine had a small quiver at idle. Even my wife noticed it when she drove it . I had my truck to the dealership and looked at 4 times a and told them I was not happy with this truck. They never did anything to help me. I took it to another dealership and they told me my engine mounts needed replacing . They did a vibration test on it and told me it’s vibration was out of specs. Never noticed any difference in the quiver. So I decided to purchase a Range Technology active fuel management disabler. At first it seemed like it helped a little, but not much. So I decided to purchase a Black Bear tuner . I tried 4 or5 different tunes on it . It seems to have helped the shifting some, but it still had a quiver and surge that was noticeable also while driving, mostly in gears 2 and 3 with low rpm’s. So, I lived with this issue for 3 1/2 years and 38,000 miles. I wanted a truck that would last me into retirement, without all the problems. So, I traded for a 2020 Ford F-150 and have not been happier. I have 3000 miles on the truck so far and have had “0” issues with my Ford. I was looking on this website and am seeing all the complaints on Silverado’s from 2016 to present. I gave Chevy a chance and they blew it. I work with a lot of people that drive Older model Chevy trucks, mostly from the late 90’s to early 2000,s. Those seem to be built a lot better with fewer problems. So, in my opinion, don’t waste your money and chance getting a reliable truck, get a Ford F-150 . This was the main reason I traded , but is not the only Issues I had. I also had radio problems, seat problems, and a big water leak on drivers side fire wall metal seam with no sealant applied to the seam. Will never own another Chevy product..

Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,000 miles

Owned 2014 Silverado 1500 Z71 with 28,000 miles on it. Never had a problem. Sold to dealer and leased this 2016 Silverado Z71 with 2000 miles on it. The first time I drove it when it was delivered to my house the front end feels like the tires are bouncing / Shaking. Took to dealer they balanced tires and still did same thing. I took back and told them to keep till repaired. Three days later I picked it up and they tried force balancing wheels and other things to front end. Still shakes and vibrates just not as bad. They drove one or two other 1500's from the lot and they were the same or worse. I rode in one and it was worse than mine. GM tells me it is the way they ride and there is no other fix to it. Bull Sh*t I say! $45,000 truck and shakes and shimmy's right off the lot. My son leased the same model truck the same day and is having the same problem.

GM BETTER GET THERE SH*T TOGETHER I LOVED MY 2014 but so far not liking the 2016 so much. Too bad I have three years to deal with it like this, SUCKS

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,000 miles

My beef is GM tells me they have no fix for the problem at this time. GM trucks 14/15/16 all have this problem I don't believe they have any intention of fixing this problem the Technician at Don Franklin at Somerset Ky tells me it is the torque convertor and it is programed to lock and unlock causing the vibration. I DON'T THINK THIS TO BE TRUE.

Silverado 1500 High Country 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 675 miles

vibration in steering and truck above 40 mph

Traded my 2012 GMC Sierra SLE for this 2016 Silverado High Country. $56000 truck. Paid cash for this truck. When I test drove it it rode as smooth as glass. 2 days later a terrible vibration developed that makes my hand numb after 45 minutes of driving and can be felt through the seats. The whole truck vibrates. Mainly above 40 mph. Called the dealership and they said I needed to have 500 miles on the truck before they would look at it. Took it back with 675 miles on it and they balanced the tires and claimed to have road tested the truck BUT the service invoice has 675 as the milage in and out..... Hmmmm. Left the dealership with my "fixed" truck and the problem was apparent half a mile p the road. Horrible vibration remains. Service manager said " you know it's a truck and this rides better than my 2016 Sierra Denali" I was livid but managed to stay professional. I personally could care less about his truck. I bought this truck because I am in the road a lot and wanted a 4WD with some luxury. Have bought new GM trucks in 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2012 and no issues. Dealership swears that they want me to be satisfied completely. Had the truck for 10 days and have taken off work early to take it back, etc. Going to take it back for visit #2 and see if they can fix it. Can't believe that GM would put something like this on the road. Guess we will see how satisfied they want me to be.....
