Bought truck new in 2020 and used dealer for all preventative maintenance since then. Engine developed lifter noise on Dec 5 2023. Truck taken to dealer by tow service. Dec 6 dealer started repair of driver side lifter bank. Dec 13 dealer finished work but test drive showed passenger side lifter bank needed repair. Dec 21 passenger side lifter bank repair completed but test drive still had bad engine noise present. Dec 23 Truck remains at dealer service department which is still diagnosing new loud noise. Chevrolet is paying for all work. The inconvenience is huge but my main concern is the 5.3 engine is a true lemon for this model year.
I'm disappointed that GM has not issued a recall because repairing the engine is going to require more than using same defective parts used to build the original engine to fix the issue.

The 2020 4.3 ltr engine sucks!!! There's a knock, a ping, and the dealer dose not know what to do - they keep blaming GM.

I bought a 2020 Chevy1500 and only drove it about 5,000 miles and it started making a horrible knocking noise. Come to find out it was a lifter that has gone out. Now I am having to pay for this out of pocket as well has having to rent a car till it is completed. I have always liked and trusted Chevy until this point. I will never buy another Chevy product again. I have been raked across the coals with this and will never trust Chevy again!
