Silverado 1500 LS 3.0L Diesel

  • Automatic transmission
  • 13,500 miles

At 13,500 miles the DEF tank sensor failed putting the truck into limp mode. Limped it to a dealer near by as I was on vacation. No replacement parts were available in the entire USA and only 2 available in the whole world at the time. GM was not willing to pull the part from the assembly line, nor tow me home to my home state, nor get a rental car, nor provide a loaner car for the duration of the repair, nor provide hotels for the extended stay.

I ended up working with the local dealer to trade the defective vehicle for a new one on their lot with some added expense to myself just so I could get home. It took calling GM customer service every day for almost 2 months to get a reply and to work on recouping the costs of the extension of the trip with no car. No GM help with covering the cost of the new truck.

I cannot say how disappointed I am with GM and their handling of the situation. How can you put a vehicle out for sale and not have any replacement parts available? Especially for a critical system to operate the vehicle. GM Does not stand behind their products and would be just fine leaving their customers stranded before they lift a finger. I will never purchase another GM product again.
