Frame broken behind cab on both sides
- Scenery Hill, PA, USA
Drivers side rear shock absorber upper mounting cross member has corroded off the vehicle. This should cause a recall as rotting frame parts are very hazardous. This truck has 88000 miles. Recently I had to replace all the brake lines in this truck as well. Brakes were lost luckily in the driveway. Heard a loud clunking in the rear and found the shock absorber mount had rotted off.

Rust rust rust. Frame is so bad truck will not pass nys safety inspection next year. I have to sell it for scrap/salvage as GM won't offer anything but a "possible" credit if I buy a new Chevy truck. No way I'll do that:(. truck only has 25,500 miles as it is a second vehicle. It was never used off road or for snow plowing. Just rusted away sitting in the driveway.
- Pound Ridge, NY, USA
Truck frame rusted so badly vehicle can't be inspected without replacing frame. Rear shock absorbers mounted on cross-members that are entirely rusted through. Same frame design on 2014 trucks of same model. Body is still good, but inspection will expire at end of Sept. 2014 and this 9 year old truck with 76,000 original miles will be unable to be put on the road without frame replacement. Pretty sad when '87 Chevy's are still on the road and this piece of rust is only good for looking at.

While driving, loud bang. Looked under truck, driver's side rear leaf spring shackle had rotted off and the leaf spring busted through the bed of the truck. 2 weeks later, a banging on the under side of bed. Look underneath and the driver's side rear shock mount has rusted off the frame. Not even sure there is enough metal left to weld or put on a new mount! the rear cross member that holds the spare tire is non-existent. It has rusted away. The body of the truck is in great shape. It is just the frame area and mounts that attach to it. I have owned this truck since it was new, it has never been off road and has been kept in excellent running condition. This seems to be an ongoing problem with GM. I have seen many complaints and hopes that the NHTSA takes notice and action.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, she would hear a loud abnormal noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where they advised her that the driver's side hub failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, when driving at low speeds and completing turns, the steering wheel would seize and the contact was unable to maneuver the steering wheel. There was also a loud grinding noise when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they advised her that the power steering box failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and advised her that the vehicle had no existing recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000. The current mileage was approximately 100,000.

The front end intermittently begins to "shimmy" at about 50mph. I have replaced tires, inner and outer tie rods, and brakes calipers but the problems have not resolved. The vehicle has always had problems with a "clunking" from the steering column. Several owners report the same problem.
- Baton Rouge, LA, USA
ABS light came on and flashed while driving. It went off when vehicle was turned off and sat for several hours. Two days later, was driving and heard a noise from the driver's side front wheel. Took vehicle into a mechanic and discovered wheel bearing was bad and had to be replaced. The mechanic advised me to keep the part due to the fact of the number of Chevrolet he has seen with this same problem. My vehicle has approx. 44,000 miles.
- Georgetown, SC, USA
Driving home on the highway the left rear wheel became detached from the axle and hub assembly. The tire and wheel assembly rolled away from the vehicle to the other side of the highway, causing the vehicle to lose traction and crash into the median of the highway and skid to a halt. Completely tore apart the driver side rear suspension and brake assembly as well as considerable body damage to the rear quarter panel, rear bumper, and tow hitch. Vehicle has only light duty use, mostly commuter miles, with good tires, excellent maintenance records, and less than 39,000, just out of warranty.

Have had feathering on front tire edges on 05' Chevrolet Z-71. Two alignments and two sets of Bridgestone dueler A/T's later truck still has a vibration at 50 mph. Am still working on the problem, dealer's service advisor has told me his tech.'s can't feel the vibration although when said service advisor road with me on a test drive he had admitted to feeling the vibration. So... can I throw my hands in the air also while sending my monthly payments ?
- Austin, TX, USA
2005 Chevrolet crew cab 1/2 ton two wheel drive has had a vibration while driving and while braking since the first test drive. The salesman promised it was just the tires with flat spots and would go away. John keating Chevy. As changed the front rotors the back drums, two tires aligned the front end put in steering kit. The truck still has the vibration and now the front left and the rear brakes are locking up. If you brake hard the brakes skids on the left side. I have contacted customer service they will not return my calls. I was at the dealership on 2/21/06 I tried to talk the owner I left my name and I was there for 5 hours he never contacted me. I called him that night around 6:15 and spoke with him, he wants to ride in the truck, I called the next afternoon left my number and asked for appointment. I called again 2/23/06 around 2:00 again I left my number.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. The vehicle bounced as it went down the road at 50-65 mph. It has been doing this since the contact bought it new. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer will do anything. The contact took vehicle to 2 dealers, and they could not duplicate the problem. They could feel the bounce but "it wasn't that bad". overall truck drives like a dump truck. Front tires wore in less than 2500 miles. Dealer rotated the tires and a front end alignment and said "try that". owned a 2002 exact same truck and was a much better ride. Dealer told me " they made the seats more uncomfortable because people were falling asleep at the wheel" can U believe that.
- Assonet, MA, USA
Vehicle vibrates non-stop through steering wheel, accelerator, floorboard & brake pedal.
- Burbank, IL, USA
Truck bounces. GM replaced with same results. Replaced with aftermarket monroe gas magnums which helped some. Suspension is still weak. Transmission slips while driving. Informed dealer who said transmission guy was not in that day. Will contact the dealer again.
- Astor, FL, USA
