Silverado 1500 Hybrid 6-cyl

  • 11,951 miles
We were driving our 2010 Chevy Silverado (with 11,951 miles on it) on the freeway in the hov lane at approximately 70 mph. The cruise control was on. Without warning, the truck jumped 3 times and then apparently the engine just shut off. There was no acceleration, no power steering or power brakes. Once the truck came to a stop, we tried to start it again. The starter turned but the truck would not start. After approximately 10 minutes, we were able to get the truck started and moved to a safe location. Then we called and had it towed to a local Chevy dealer. The report we got back is as follows: " perform system checks, scan check shows no codes stored in any modules. Road test multiple times without failure, let run in stall for 3 hours. No stall ever occurred. No repair required at this time." I questioned the mechanic about checking fuel system and he said since it was working there was nothing to check. So we have no idea what happened to the truck, but we are afraid to drive it. The incident was a major inconvenience to us, but more important, it was an extremely dangerous situation. We are fortunate that no accident occurred and that no one was injured.

Submission from constituent re GM issues (full document not imaged). The consumer stated the check engine and traction control light illuminated. The #7 cylinder and head gasket were replaced. The right rear spring was broken. The vehicle was consuming excessive amounts of oil. The vehicle would accelerate, when the consumer was attempting to slow down and the number 1 and 3 cylinders were mis-firing.

My wife noticed a noise while riding with me and I determined that it was the air conditioners compressor motor. Within a few days the motor failed. It is out of warranty and they want $1000 to fix it at the dealership. I priced an independent shop and it was over $800. This should not fail at 55,000 miles as over 3/4 of those were driven when no air conditioner was used. It's sad that you pay $40K+ for a vehicle and the main systems fail before the loan is even paid off. I guess it's back to rolling down the windows as $1000 to fix it is not within my budget.

When you are going about forty miles per hour, there is some vibration under the truck. I took it to the dealer they said it was from the cold in the morning. Happens all the time. If you goggle the problem, it has other people discussing the matter. Wish had know about this site before. Thank you
