I bought my 2011 Silverado with only 36,000 miles on it, before it ever reached 40,000 the dash cracked in the corner of the passenger airbag, and now above the odometer. I'm concerned for the safety of myself and my family if the airbag was to go off and send shards of sharp plastic though the vehicle. I would appreciate GM recalling and fixing the issue that they are already aware of.

There is a crack on the dash that runs along the compartment housing the passenger side air bag. This crack could potentially tear the airbag upon deployment making it useless in the event of a crash. The dealership informed me this was a common occurrence and it could be replaced but that the replacement may crack due to body shifting during operation and sun exposure. Now the dash is beginning to crack in other places (stress fractures). Not sure when these cracks started whether the vehicle was in motion or stationary.

Took it to walker jones in waycross ga cause the light to the airbags was staying on. They hooked it to computer and said it was thermostate was the problem. Replaced it and the air bag light is still coming on. Only thing they want to do it fix everything else but the airbag.
