New purchase of 2013 Silverado Hybrid. 39000 miles and fine except the electric vehicle mode will not stay engaged up to 30 mph as specified in the design. Instead it starts the engine under very light acceleration at 5 to 10 miles an hour. With normal gentle driving, it starts the engine immediately from a stop. Instead of getting 20 mpg as claimed, it gets 16 mpg in city driving.
I have taken it to 2 dealers and they both say that nothing is wrong if there are no warning lights on. They say they will diagnose the car and charge me $160 if they do not find any faults. Not running up to 30 mph and getting 20% less gas mileage are not considered faults. The car is under dealer warranty for 30 days and also hybrid component warranty. But they will not test the car unless I promise to pay them if they do not find a problem.
