Pulling into a gas station with my son from a road with a 45 mph speed limit. Slowed down to attempt to park on side of building and about the last 50-75 feet the ABS brake system pulsates and brake pedal is slammed down as hard as could and there is absolutely no brakes. Truck hits corner of gate damaging bumper, grille, hood and small dent in door from gate. Taken to dealership to have recall campaign 05068 looked at and damage accessed. Dealership says damage not due to recall campaign. They also state that there are other components that caused crash and I am charged $220 to fix these. Called Chevrolet hot line and of course they do nothing but deny responsibility for products they have problems with. They insult my good faith in them by asking me how tall I am (they probably think that I am a short person and inadvertantly stepped on gas pedal instead of brake).

: the contact stated while driving on normal road conditions at low speeds, and under normal braking conditions, the anti-lock brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The ABS activated, causing extended stopping distance. After the first incident the dealer replaced the rotors. The second time the dealership put brake pads on the rear, cleaned the sensors, and resurfaced the front and rear rotors. However, the problem recurred. The right rear window regulator was replaced. Updated 02/07/06.

Took truck to have brakes done on all four wheels. (could not stop but was able to steer around trouble, was reason for doing this) rear brakes and pads had to be replaced, they could not cut the rotors due to rust. I have never seen this condition in forty five years of working on cars or trucks, the rust ate away the pads to 1/3 their size. This condition should not have happened. I can see changing rotors because of heat or metal on metal, not from rust. I have the parts that have been replaced. The front rotors and pads did not need to be replaced. This happened in less than 5,000 miles as I had a New York emissions and safety inspection and it passed both.

The contact stated when applying pressure to the brakes they made a grinding noise. The service dealership said the rear rotors rusted, and the frontal rotors wore out. They replaced the rear brake shoes, pads, and rotors. Also, the front rotors and pads were replaced. When contacting a Chevrolet dealership they said it was due to normal wear and tear.

The contact states that he received a recall letter concerning the anti lock brakes. He took the vehicle to a dealer. While performing the recall repairs the dealer noted there was a problem with the front rotors. The dealer determined the rotors was made of poor quality material andwas not receiving sufficient support and wear from the pads. The dealer completed the recall repair, however the rotor problem has not been corrected at this time.

The consumer stated the brakes failed at low speed, less than 20 mph. This was an intermittent problem. The vehicle had been taken to the dealership, the first time they said it was due to rust on the rotors. They replaced the rotors, but that did not fix the problem. The bearing hub assembly was replaced, the problem ceased for about a year. The bearing hub assembly hwas been replaced three times. The problem recurred. There was no accident.

I bought this truck in Ohio for my wife [xxx], she reported that the ABS brake would simply not work on accasion and the pedal would go straight to the floor.we took the vehicle in to the dealer but he could not find the problem. At lows speeds I was able to reproduce the problem. Dealers down here say the sensor is bad. We pulled the fuse to disable the brakes when the vehicle was new because a delphi engineer told me that would at least keep the brakes working. I have 58000 miles on my truck and we have replaced the calipers the rotors and even some of the brake lines have rusted rupturing and causing a loss of brakes. The power steering hose line rusted at the cooler radiator.. yesterday the Chevy dealer in gainseville called me to the shop to see how the frame is being eaten away, I believe the vehicle either wasn't proberly prepared when built or the protective paints and coating were deffective. The records at jim douglas chevolet evidence the expenses we have incuured to keep the truck operational. The ABS module and the loss of break lines seem to relflect extemely poor metal coorosion resistance, even both my tailgate cable rusted and broke.each time I have taken in to the Chevy dealer for repair they are amazed at the corrosion problems. Even the tire jack in the passenger compartment was rusted and it was never used. The screws inside the center console were rusted. I spent between $2500 and $3000 in just the brake problem and that is without trying to fix the defective sensor module. I assure absent a forced recall I suspect GM will not fix this problem. GM conumer relatios suggested I get a recall number and maybe they could be of further assistance. Thus I am send you my complaint. My 1999 Chevrolet Silverado antilock braking system is not operating correctly. When nearing a stopping point the antilock system engages and excessive braking distance results. There have been numerous near misses and once ran into an intersection nearly hitting other traffic. This is not acceptable performance for a machine with only 48,000 miles as no changes or services have been made to the vehicle in the brake component area. I have not performed the service as this was a recent incident and have learned about a possibility of a recall.

The rotors rusted. The manufacturer stated that repairs were not covered since the consumer lived in new england. Salt from the snow caused the problem. The pedal had gone to the floor, C/C light would stay on until the vehicle was shut off, the gas pedal would stick/throttle body, and there was a clinging noise, the master cylinder was inoperative, and the rear rotors were pitted and rusting.

On 3/9/04 I took my 1999 Chevy Silverado to the dealership to have the front brakes serviced. The dealer serviced the front brakes, which showed "normal wear". the dealer then checked the rear brakes and found that both rear rotors showed severe pitting. Both rear rotors were so baddly pitted that they were unable to resurface them. The dealer advised that the right rotor was 85 percent worn and the left side was 30 percent worn. The dealer also advised that the right rear caliper was sticking which led to the excessive wear. The dealer had no explanation for the excessive pitting/rusting of the rear rotors. The dealer stated that it appeared similiar to vehicles that were recieved from auction that had been sitting for three to six months. Both rear rotors and the right rear brake caliper had to be replaced costing nearly $1000. My vehicle only has 49,186 miles on it. There was no indication, ie. More force than normal needed on the brake pedal for braking, grinding, or pulling to one side or the other, during braking that something may be wrong. It appears from other complaints that I have read, this is a common problem with this vehicle.

Brakes working improperly causing damage to rotors. Brake pads not worn, but rotors chewed up and peeling apart. Inside surface of front rotors flaked and scaled off in large sections. 1999 Chevrolet Silverado with 44,900 mileage. After new rotors caliper and brake pads installed, brakes begin grabbing and vibrating. Took truck to dealer who did additional resurfacing of new front rotors, removed and replaced front wheel sensor. Mechanics revealed that there have been many other owners with brake problems on these vehicles, but GM has done nothing as yet.
