problem #2

Jan 012001

Silverado 2500 4WD 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 66,934 miles
Parking brake has never been effective to hold vehicle, at 66000 miles the rear axle pinion bearings wore out. At 68 K000miles the ABS controller stopped working/ fuse had to be pulled to stop motor. [should there have been a recall on this part as a lot of Silverado have the same problem] 73000 miles front axle housing split in two halves literally/ had to remove axle. 50000 miles battery corroded and leaked at positive terminal tailgate straps broke, luckily one first.

problem #1

Jun 301999

Silverado 2500

  • miles
Excessive shimmy in the front end at approximately 60 to 65 mph. Truck has been brought back to the dealership numerous times for repair, but no repair was available. We were told when a repair was available we would be called. To date, there is no repair available. I my opinion it is a hazardous situation due to loss of control, especially in wet weather. We have no idea if the problem is causing other front end damage. The tires have been rotated and balanced, front end aligned and then we brought it back to the dealership as per bulletin #99-03-002 (replaced both front hub bearing assemblies/ right and left rear spring eye bushings, and both rear shocks).
