: the contact stated the vehicle fuel pump failed. The vehicle would not start after sitting for several hours. An independent repair shop mechanic inspected the vehicle and banged on the fuel pump to restart the vehicle, it was then driven to the repair shop for a fuel pump replacement. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05V155000, regarding the fuel system, fuel pump. The model year was not included in the recall. Updated 05/30/06 prior to this failure the fuel gauge had been giving erroneous readings for about 2 months. On inspection of the fuel pump, the wire coating was found to be melted near connection.

Started up the vehicle and was running rough when out on the highway, vehicle just stopped. Had to be towed to the dealer. Had been diagnosed that the #3 and #4 engine cylinders had misfired. Also, replaced the fuel injectors #3 and #4, and spark plugs. Several days later the same problem. This time the #4 engine cylinder again failed. Contaminated fuel, replaced the fuel pump. Contacted dealer and manufacturer.
