While approaching a red light at 28mph and pressing the brake, the pedal went completely to the floor and the vehicle did not slow down. I pumped the pedal repeatedly and only slight braking action could be achieved. I went through the intersection just narrowly missing two crossing cars and turned onto a nearby side street. After finally getting the vehicle to stop, I got out and saw a puddle of brake fluid forming a few feet behind the driver side front wheel. Further inspection found all break lines severely rusted and a brake line had ruptured just above the frame rail. I did not experience any warning light prior to the failure. I was under the impression that vehicles have two brake systems (fount and rear) and if one failed you still had the other to stop you? I contacted my car dealer and was informed that there was no recall related to ruptured brake lines due to rust or complete failure of a brake system. I was just lucky no one was killed. People driving these vehicles should be contacted and warned!!! after reading report after report of the same thing happening to others driving the 1999 Silverado, I can not understand why there has not been a warning sent out to owners and/or a recall!!!!

1. power window passenger door: Operates slowly and if it gets too warm will quit. After 30 seconds will continue slowly 2. other - cd player: Plays tract 1 then skips & ejects cd (laser out of line) 3. ABS system has failed - automatic brake control module has to be replaced. This is a common problem for the '99 siverado. (the local auto wrecker won't even sell a used one unless there are less than 40000 km. This should say something!) I feel this should be a recall

Would have no ABS brakes after pressing on brake pedal. Had fuse removed due to ABS pump continuing to run. ABS module had shorted out. Have taken to mechanic, but warranty expired. Drivers side window will not roll up, there was a popping noise when backing up and turning, dealer replaced lower ball joint, passenger side window leaks, leather seats are torn, cruise control module was replaced, dash panel parts inoperative, also cup holder rattles and the right back window leaks.

Vehicle came equipped with a governor, restricting vehicle not to go over 97 mph, top speed. If it did vehicle would shut down/quit, causing a safety hazard when trying to bypass a vehicle. Owner wants governor to be disconnected by GM.

This is a systematic issue related to the keyless entry system. In my opinion, the system implies that it will be possible to unlock the vehicle quickly and from some remote position so that entry can be accomplished immediately upon reaching the vehicle. This is, or could be, an important safety issue relating to the welfare of the person trying to exercise the remote unlocking function. However, the remote transmitters can and, by personal experience do, become unsynchronized with the vehicle locks. On the date in question, both my transmitter and the transmitter carried by my wife failed to unlock the truck. It was necessary to use the key to manually unlock the vehicle. While there was no danger at that time, it caused my wife great concern that she could be "caught" in a situation where there actually was danger. Such a "panic" situation would, at best, be excerbated by an unsynchronized remote transmitter; and, at worst, could contribute to a situation resulting in her bodily harm. The owner's manual for the Silverado explains that the remotes will occasionally need to be resynchronized and gives the procedure to be used. Unfortunately, the manual is usually located in the locked vehicle and not available for reference during a time of need. In addition, it takes a few seconds to recognize that the remote did not work, so it gets tried several times before resorting the manual key-entry. In a panic situation, time is at a premium. While none of the foregoing relates to an unsafe vehicle operating condition, in my opinion it could definitely be associated with the wefare of a driver trying to quickly enter the vehicle. In that sense, it becomes a vehicle safety issue.

This vehicle I have described is a lemon. After many attempts by two dealerships this pickup is still messed up. Have contacted Chevrolet several times and even have a claim#990501858. No one with Chevrolet wants to deal with this problem. We have requested manufacture buy-back two months ago. We are no closer to date than we were when we started this process. I am looking for help at ever point trying to get out of this vehicle. There have been other problem than were stated in this form. If you can help it would be greatly appreciated.
