Silverado 2500 LS 6.6L Turbo Diesel

My mechanic said this is a common problem with 2003 Silverados. I think it's horrible Chevy should stand up to their product.

Silverado 2500 LS 6.0L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 146,000 miles

Left drive thru, pedal went to floor, truck would not stop, no warning and no indicator lights came on. made my way home using emergency brake. lifted truck this morning and brake lines are rusted away. My dad worked for GM for 42 years and brother for 35 yrs. Have always been very loyal to GM. I do not have the money for a repair that should not need to be made. The truck was never abused and always kept up normal nothing extra and now it must sit in the garage on jack stands. I would think a quick and easy repair (for a GM certified tech) would be something GM would want to do for loyal owners when the repair has to do with something so critical to safety. I was happy I was only pulling away from a drive thru and not making a trip back to Indiana running 5 or 70 miles per hour. My wife asked if I had any idea what is wrong and I stated not really as no indicator lights are showing anything wrong even with the brake pedal all the way to the floor. I would hope that GM will step up and help with this repair or I may need to rethink my next truck being a Chevy. My whole family is loyal to GM but if this is what they plan on doing for us then I will be directing them to other manufacturers.

Silverado 2500 Base 6.0L

  • Automatic transmission

Basically the truck looks great and thats it , Its a giant pile , replaced entire brake system except for the pedal itself @65,000 miles , new alternator @ 53,000 miles , new power steering @48,000 miles , have undercoated it every 9 months or so and it keeps rusting out , window cables broke , universal joints wore out @ 50,000 miles ( replaced with greaseable ones ) .Climate controls only work on HI, transfer case selector must be oiled regularly or it rattles , transmission lines rottet out @ 60,000 miles .We have a running joke that one way or another im gonna get it to 100,000 miles even if i have to push it . I refuse to fix it enough to sell it , I would not do that to another human being , it is a cursed item and must be destroyed , luckily i came into some extra money and bought a new ford pickup

CHECK YOUR BRAKE LINES ON ANY GM VEHICLE PRODUCED IN THIS TIME PERIOD. I GUARANTEE GM USED THE SAME SUPPLIER FOR ALL THEIR BRAKE LINES! Brake lines rust and blow out without any warning. You will have no brakes whatsoever! Truck is only 6 years old with 75,000 miles and is sitting in my driveway and can not be moved. Luckily line busted as I pulled up to carport and I hit the emergency brake to stop me. GM bite me!!! I've never replaced a metal brake line on any vehicle I ever owned. If GM doesn't repair, I will be calling my lawyer!
