Wheel speed sensor on 2006 Chevy Silverado doesn't work so brakes at slow speeds go right to the floor.
- Gwinn, MI, USA
On October the 22nd. 2009 the rear brakes started to make a loud noise. Upon checking the rear brakes I found the rotors had started to come apart. I have replaced the brake pads and rotors at this time. However the pads that I removed from my 2006 Chevy 2500 hd truck still had material left on them. There was no metal to metal contact between the pads and the rotors.
- Dayton, OH, USA
2006 Chevy Silverado truck with 9480 miles. When coming to a slow stop ABS system on right side would engage under normal stopping and cause truck to lurch. Problem was a cracked speed sensor on that side - replaced part, normal braking returned.
- Hazle Township, PA, USA
Rear brake rotors severely rusted / corroded. Rear disc calipers frozen in place (only contacting rotor on outboard side) inboard side of both rear brake rotors missing "chunks" of metal due to severe corrosion.

Continual unwanted ABS activation during low speed brake application on a 2006 Silverado. Virtually the same problem that was addressed by NHTSA campaign id number 05V379000.
- Syracuse, NY, USA
2006 Chevy Silverado 2500hd. Antilock brakes engaging at low speeds all the time. This can cause and accident because it increases the stopping distance required. Vehicle has 34,000 miles on it.
- Hilton, NY, USA
The ABS on my 2006 Silverado activates on low speed stops on dry pavement causing the brakes to release. I have almost rear-ended vehicles because of this. The dealer says I have to pay to get it fixed. I've been out of warranty for only 2 months and there's only 19,000 miles on the truck. There's a Chevy tech bulletin out on the problem too. Why hasn't there been a recall" how can I get the dealer to correct this flaw in their ABS system without paying $700"

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd. The contact noticed hydraulic fluid leaking from the hydro boost lines. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the hydro boost lines failed and caused the leak. The contact was informed that if too much fluid was lost, the braking system would completely fail. The vehicle was repaired at the cost of $1,037.54. The manufacturer stated that there was a recall regarding the failure, but no compensation would be provided because the VIN was excluded. The failure mileage was 56,456 and current mileage was 56,600. Updated 03/09/09. Updated 03/11/09.
- St Joseph, MN, USA
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact filed a complaint two years ago regarding the ABS locking up in rainy conditions. All four of his tires locked when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact drove through two bushes and struck a large traffic light pole. The vehicle sustained $7,000 worth of damages. A police report was filed. The contact has been in and out of the hospital since the crash. The manufacturer recalled the vehicles in the North of the United States, but not the South. The contact has a lawyer and spoke with the Chevrolet manufacturer regarding the brake failure. He no longer drives the vehicle in the rain. The failure mileage was 16,000.
- North Seminole, FL, USA
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado K2500 hd. While driving approximately 50 mph, the brakes failed when the contact depressed the brake pedal. He was able to bring the vehicle to a stop by applying the emergency brake. The dealer stated that the brake line failed due to defective welding of the rear driver's side brake shock absorber. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and they partially repaired the brakes. The contact took the vehicle to a second dealer and they stated that the brake line was partially welded and the failure could recur at any moment. They further stated that there was no evidence that the vehicle was driven on rough terrain; however, it was a factory defect. The manufacturer took a report, but will not authorize the dealer to complete the welding repair. The failure mileage was 29,000 and current mileage was 34,639.
- Brinson, GA, USA

In Nov. Of 2005 I purchased a Chevrolet Silverado, I have had nothing but problems with it. I have had the rear brakes and rotors replaced 3 times and the front once, also the fuel system had a problem, now they tell me that I need all tires replaced because the compound is bad. My truck only has a little over 7,000 miles on it!
