The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet 2500 hd. While driving downhill between 30-50 mph, the transmission began shifting out of gear unexpectedly when the brake pedal was depressed. The road surface was icy. The check engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and they stated that the failure was related to a blocked heater cord. The vehicle was repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 37,000 and current mileage was 37,400.

The vehicle was returned to the dealer, bill hood automotive, for a total of 11 times since it was purchased in May 2006. Between May 29, 2006 and December 2006, there were several visits for various problems. Starting in December 2006, there were problems with the vehicle running hot. Parts were replaced on each visit thereafter. On January 20, 2007, the engine caught on fire. The consumer wants to check on the status of the complaint.
