The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while backing out of the garage, the vehicle lunged backwards without warning. The contact continued to depress the brake pedal and the vehicle eventually responded. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, who diagnosed that the hydro booster failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,942.

Silverado 2500 4WD 8-cyl

  • 60,000 miles
I have a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 hd four wheel drive that is not stopping properly at low speeds. The ABS system is letting go at slow speeds causing the brakes to let go. This could be a very serious situation at a crosswalk with children. I reported the problem at the local dealer and they said it was a common occurrence due to rust affecting the ABS brake sensors. The cost of the sensors was $135 each plus about three hours labor total close to $600. I think this should be a recall issue as it is not caused by wear.
