The contact stated that there were unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired due to a national backorder on the part. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21E101000 (Fuel System, Diesel). The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The contact owns a 2008 (na) Chevrolet Silverado hd. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost power and the engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the engine had excess air. Once the mechanic released the air pressure out of the engine, the vehicle restarted; however, the failure recurred several times. The failure mileage was 100,500...updated 11/21/16 the consumer stated air was in the gas line, due to leaks. Updated 12/14/16.
