About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
See NHTSA id number 10126955 manufacturer communication number pit5341C there is no way to turn off the auto door locks feature. 5 adults were on a ski trip, 4 entered the vehicle and one was delayed. Neither driver or other occupants noticed 1 was missing and and departed. The one passenger was locked out of the vehicle and hanging on to the door handle as the vehicle was driven out of the parking lot! after this event, I wish the door would have opened and the passenger could have jumped in. The driver would have noticed and let the passenger in, no problem. As the ultimately responsible driver, I wish I could have opened / unlocked the door, however the truck locked it automatically (unknown to the driver). Is there an NHTSA regulation that requires doors to lock automatically?
