Silverado 2500

  • 96,000 miles
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Discoverer A/T3 XLT, Tire Size: 265/70/R18, DOT Number: UP511NE. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH in inclement weather, the contact heard a loud explosion, and then the vehicle swerved. The contact checked the side door mirrors and saw that the rear passenger's side tire had detached, and the tire had struck two other vehicles. The contact nearly lost control of the vehicle but was able to pull over to the side of the roadway. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that half of the rear passenger's sidewall tire remained attached to the rim. AAA arrived on the scene and replaced the passenger's side tire with a spare tire. The spare tire was not replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The tire manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall for the tire. The tire failure mileage was unknown. The vehicle failure mileage was 96,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Silverado 2500 6-cyl

While operating vehicle, entering interstate I started to experience uncontrollable vibration in the rear of my vehicle. The passenger rear tire had suddenly lost tread without warning. The tire in question is LT275/65R20 bfgoodrich all terrain T/a KO2. Luckily I was able to remain in control of vehicle otherwise this could have easily resulted in loss of control of vehicle and worst case fatality. The tire in which lost tread caused $3400-3700 in damages, left me without a full set of tires that were at only half life and a vehicle that has sat for a month and a half due to said damages. To this date Michelin North America has not followed through to right this wrong in its products. This incident occurred on May 28th and was handled in a matter of hours on my end. Michelin has continuously dragged their feet through the entire process which took them a month and a half to come to the conclusion that it was not their problem but my problem. The customer service that was contacted was on average hard to work with and provided very little direction and insight that this would be resolved in a timely manner. When being transferred to the claims department it was an even worse experience with very little communication, individuals that rarely answered phone calls and staff that has no care for the customers that rely on Michelin products.
