Silverado 3500 4WD

On 2/28/02, I reported to GM that my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado was jerking & binding when the vehicle rounded corners or in a 180-degree turn. A service manager took this vehicle for a test drive by himself in the parking lot and did a couple of turns and a 180-degree turn. He also found that it did have a jerky or jumping movement as it went into the turn. This front wheel binding may be some type of design irregularity or flaw, which occurs while in the 4-wheel drive mode. Since the service manager considers it a normal condition, and nothing can be done at his level to correct this issue, I believe that this irregularity should be further investigated. Why, because these erratic movements could jerk, bind, or stop the vehicle at any speed if the steering wheel is being turned and the vehicle in motion. Nowhere in my operator's manual, or on the dash is there any sticker which identifies that this vehicle while in a 4-wheel drive mode will jerk or bind while turning corners.

Emergency brake has been adjusted 4-5 times. When applied, brake holds vehicle, but pedal goes to the floor. Also, dealer replaced brake pads. Daytime running bulb blew out after it had just been replaced. Rear window assembly was leaking, power window was slow going up. Transfer case was replaced due to a clunk noise, transaxle shaft replaced due to leaking. Front brake hose experienced an abrasion. Vehicle was leaning, dealer adjusted front torsion bar.

Front end has been vibrating since purchase of vehicle, dealer has replaced front end twice/ dashboard twice, and transfer case 3 times. Went to different dealers 11 times. Could not remedy problems. Chevrolet first agreed to buy vehicle back, then changed mind. Independent mechanic felt that problem had to do with driveline. Vehicle was at dealer 85 days first year. Please add additional information.

A piece of metal fell out of steering column. Also, front end needed alignment due to drifting/pulling right/ 4-wd light keeps coming on. When shifting into gear, rear end would pop, and ABS brakes went out when applied. When vehicle is turned off it would still be running. Would restart it and it turned off.
