All gauges erratic function. Never know when I run out of fuel. Only can reactive fuel reading, some of the time is to be on the road, take foot off of accelerator, drop into neutral and drop it back into drive; fuel gauge may read for a while. Hazard warning switch will not cancel to the home position and if it does cancel the relay keeps clicking. Turn signal remains unaffected for signaling a turn.

While applying the brakes, the vehicle jerked and vibrated uncontrollably. The consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic determined that the front rotors rusted, and needed to be replaced. The brake problem was continuous front and back since 5958 miles. Chevrolet would not replace the brakes. The calipers were leaking, the security light had come on three times when the vehicle was in motion with the key, the reluctor ring/sensor was out of adjustment caused by rust, and the driveline made a clanking sound. GM had been made aware of the problems.

This occurred on Saturday, 1/31/04. Vehicle make: 2500 Chevrolet Silverado, 3/4 ton, 6' bed, 6L engine description: I had to make a tight right hand turn from a gas station onto the main road in syracuse, New York as opposing traffic was coming at me. After I completed the turn and started to head South on the main four lane road I immediately found out that the power steering was quite rough. Quite rough was not the word for it as there was no power steering! about a block from that point I had to brake and found out that there were no power assisted brakes on the vehicle. No idiot lights came on at all and this presented quite a serious problem especially with the snow plow attached. Both the fluid in the master brake and power steering cylinders were right up to normal levels and the serpentine belt was relatively new and intact! trust me that I am not happy about this at all from a vehicle that has only 30,000 miles on it and has been plagued with various major problems throughout its somewhat youthful history including two (2) full brake jobs to date. I'm just thankful that no one was hurt including myself. I want this letter to be relayed to the Chevrolet zone manager and I would like their input on the issues that have been presented. As a consumer there is no way that both the power steering and brakes should have gone at the same time, plus, the fact that there were no indications of a major problem from the message center or dashboard. There very easily could have been a different ending to this story especially with the type of winter weather and road conditions we have been having as of late here in upstate New York.

After towing a trailer, the rear tail light bulbs blew out, they were replaced and blew again along with a main relay fuse under the hood (never small fuse from dash fuse box). After replacing that twice we continued to have a problem, the vehicle was under warranty so we took it to the dealer, they said it was shorting out because of a bare wire and they fixed with black tape(still have not located that wire) the warranty expired shortly after and the mechanic did not do an invoice for electrical tape...since then we have continued to have numerous problems with the electrical system including the rear tail lights, brake lights, rear turn signal lights, passenger power window control, parental window lock control, hazard lights. We have also had to replace the battery 3 times in just over a year. We had an electric brake system installed at the time of purchase and have checked that wiring and the trailer wiring for bare wire shorts and found nothing. We no longer use the trailer lights so it is not an overload?? any information on possible defects would be appreciated.
