The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that the front tires were wearing prematurely. The tires were rotated regularly, but the front tires continued to wear prematurely. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the manufacturer designed the front tires to be rotated every 6,000 miles. The contact felt that the suspension was causing the tires to wear prematurely. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 6,000 and the current mileage was 40,400... updated 08-30-12 the consumer stated the tires were rotated every 3,000 miles since the vehicle had 6,000 miles. The dealer and manufacturer offered no repair for the failure. Updated 09/04/2012

The consumer states that the ameritech by general tire has developed a problem with tread separation. The two front tires had to be replaced about 4 months ago and the 4 rear tires need to be replaced now. The dealership agreed that the tires need to be replaced and the manufacturer said that they would supply the consumer with new tires if they had them. The consumer has been waiting for the tires for 3 weeks. The consumer talked to General Motors about the tires. The consumer states that the tires are under warranty. The tires are a year old and have 14,000 miles on them. The first two tires had to be replaced at 6,000 miles. The tire line is LT215/85R16. All the tires are from the same line and have been properly maintained.

Chunks out of treads on all four oem supplied tires. Increasing vehicle vibration noted when driving on the highway. Tires are Bridgestone duravis II LT245/75R16E. Vehicle has 11,000 miles. Vehicle is used for personal use 80-85% hwy/cty, 10-15% gravel road, 1-2% offroad. Tires have been inspected by car dealer and local tire dealer who state the problem could be caused by rocks or rough roads. Customer claims vehicle is not abused or being used any differently than previously owned full size pickups, and never experienced this type of tire problem before. Customer claims that when vehicle was ordered he spec"D and payed for option code qiw ?tires on/off road duty?. customer is concerned about the safety and reliability of these tires. Customer is requesting warranty condsideration for ?improperly supplied tires" on this vehicle. Both the dealer and GM customer assistance have denied customer request.
