Ignition key cannot be removed after transmission is placed in park. Car is now at dealer for repair.
Update from May 7, 2016: The shift control assembly was replaced. The final cost was $494. Chevrolet covered 50% of the cost as customer goodwill.

Currently, our 2012 Sonic cannot be used. We checked on the internet for suggestions from other Sonic drivers, which came down to "banging on the steering column." We did that for a while, and it worked--sort of. But as of Tuesday, July 21, the key cannot be removed at all, leaving the car battery engaged. Of course, the car battery is now dead. We have to take it to a Chevy repair to be fixed. This has already been a MAJOR inconvenience. Is there any TSB on this? Does anyone have a remedy that will give us back our once-reliable Sonic?

Shifter button sticks so keys cannot be removed. I took car to dealership and was told it would cost $250 to fix. I went on Goggle, that part cost $13.00.
