I had my Sonic for 3 days and I heard a noise coming from under the car. I took it to GM to check it out, they had to call in a technician to check it out as the service manager didn't know what was the problem. The technician came out and told me its a characteristic of the vehicle this was a month later and there is nothing they can do to top it off.
They can't pin point exactly where or what the noise is and it is "commercially acceptable". It's due to the way "the car is driven". The car was bought 2nd hand with the noise and the dealer we bought it from refuses to take the car back. I would advise anyone thinking of buying a Sonic 1.4 to think twice! The noise occurs when you accelerate and use the clutch control.

My Sonic has been in the shop 4 times since I bought it. I have had the a/c ducts replaced they were torn in 2 spots, air flow sensor, engine misfire, fuel trim lean, tire sensors, 4 New tires, replaced weather strips on window, warped rotors and replaced back brakes, and a transmission recall.
I took my car to dealer 3 times complaining about transmission and was told it was normal only to have GM recall it later. I bought my car with 67 miles and I have had all these repairs done before my car even had 30000 miles. Now my engine is loud and idling really high when I am in park or drive and dealer is telling key throttle body hose has a tear and has flooded my alternator with antifreeze. Warrant will not cover it and they want $900.
This car is a nightmare. I go broke to pay my car payment every month and now I have to deal with this. Never buy a Chevy Sonic.
