This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chevrolet dealer.
After a two months, check engine light, and OBII purchase to solve, (did a gas knob replacement as simple first attempt) I took it to the dealer. They had it for 2 and replaced the purge valve as the diagnosed problem. That worked for about 20 some miles and check engine light came on again. Back to the dealer, and just under the 60k limit and apparently under the lifetime emissions warranty. The part 2 diagnoses complaint is replacement of catalytic converter.

My engine light remains on most days which has been a concern but sometimes it is not lit (while car is on). A local mechanic told me my 2014 Sonic engine light is 'nothing to worry about', and that it is a common GM fault and I should put a piece of tape over it and forget about it. But lately I have noticed my gas pedal is sticking a bit and worse than that my acceleration is sluggish especially when going up even a small hill. Someone told me to GOOGLE 'Catalytic Converter' problems and it seems to fit the description. Today is a holiday here in Canada, August 1, 2016, so I will be taking my Sonic to the service department at Jack McGee here in Peterborough first thing tomorrow to find out what the real problem is. My 2014 Sonic has 70,000 Kilometers on it. I will try to give an update if I am permitted to edit this paragraph. I would appreciate feedback if someone knows what my cars troubles might be.
Thank you!

I am good customer to the dealership where I got the car at and I called in to tell them about the engine light and the air bag light comes on. The dealership told me that my warranty doesn't cover it. They also said its a separate costs and they also told me that it cost me $180.00 for hooking it up to a machine for 5 mins.
