This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chevrolet dealer.
The antifreeze expansion tank was cracked and leaking; however, no warning light came on. My car is only 4 years old with approximately 19,200 miles. I shouldn't be having problems with it already, cost $150.

I purchased this 2014 Chevy Spark brand new on 02/28/2015. In early 2017, my coolant tank broke and leaked out all the coolant while driving a whopping 3 mile commute to work. I took it to a Chevy dealership in Tampa and it was covered under warranty. This past weekend on 12/08/19 it did it again, also in Tampa, but on a Sunday evening when nothing was open. We purchased a replacement tank at Napa but it is not a perfect fit and we had to MacGyver the hoses with clamps. Along with this issue, the AC has stopped working.

After I got the car in June 12, 2018 I took the car back after a week and let the dealership know that the car was leaking coolant and they told me that they couldn't do anything about it. Another week later I went back and still the same thing. So Oct. 2018 I went had an oil changed and they brought it to my attention about the coolant leak and I told them I have came to the dealership more than once about the problem and nothing. So I have to go back Friday Oct. 5 to get it fixed because I need my car to get to and from work and school.

If my experience does not prove to Chevy that their coolant tank part is defectively designed, I do not what else possible could.
On 01/15/18, I took my vehicle in to the Chevy dealer repair shop because I could visibly see red coolant leaking out of the middle seam of the coolant reserve tank after driving my car a few minutes. The technician wrote on the receipt that when he replaced the coolant tank, the inlet of the coolant tank was also cracked and leaking. I paid $176 to have my coolant tank replaced and drove back home.
On 01/19/18, I took my vehicle back to the Chevy dealer repair shop because coolant was still leaking on the floor of my garage. I could see red coolant on the side of the brand new coolant tank, so my first assumption was that the leak was coming from the coolant tube that connects to the inlet valve. I could not fathom that the coolant tank would have an issue as it had just been replaced on 1/15/18 at 53,735 miles. On 1/19/18, my vehicle had 53,987 miles. The technician stated that I would have to agree to a $180 diagnostic test. After performing the diagnostic, the technician stated that the only leak he could find was that the coolant tank was leaking at the middle seam. Are you kidding me!?! A brand new coolant tank failed just 4 DAYS after being installed and after less than 300 MILES had been driven! Thankfully the full cost was covered under warranty.
A brand new coolant tank should never fail after less than 4 days and less than 300 miles. There is no doubt in my mind that this part is defective and should be recalled.

My 2014 vehicle only has 52,000 miles. The coolant is leaking from the middle seam of the reservoir tank as well as the top hose connection. Thankfully I observed coolant on my garage floor to put me on notice of the leak. If I had been parked outdoors, I would not have been aware of the coolant leaking and risked permanent engine damage from lack of coolant. The coolant tank should not fail this soon. This has to be a defectively designed part. Several owners on Chevy Spark forums have reported the same coolant leak around the same 50k mileage mark.

I will ask my wife to start a civil law suit against them, I see that everyone seems to be having the same problem with a cheap tank and Chevy knows this. My a/c quit working also now. And this puts everyone is a bind and a dangerous place when it happens since I was driven on i485 and traffic there is 75 to 85 miles per hour. Almost got hit since I had to slow down and could have been real bad. I think dealer hid that problem along with other things so far. I rate this car one big piece of junk.

Driving to friends house 15 miles away and it was very foggy outside. Heater did not work during trip back. Next day I take car on road trip to cousin home 55 miles away. All of a sudden temp light came on and making a loud beeping sound. I opened front hood noticed empty coolant tank. Poured almost half of bottle into tank and then started car. The car took more fluid. I took Spark to dealership and they informed me. I have a CRACKED COOLANT TANK. $298.00 Was told that problem effected heater, hesitation go from stopping and leaking fluids.

Chevrolet had sent me a notice that there was a recall on the Chevy Spark and a problem with the shifting. Immediately I replied and sent the car in for service. The mechanic fixed the recall and stated the antifreeze was leaking out of its container all the way down to the alternator. The cost of repair was $200. and not covered under warranty. This car is only two years old and this is the second repair. Starting to think maybe this car is a lemon and having flashbacks of the awful problems with the Chevy Vega. This will be the last Chevy I ever purchase.

Because I had a problem and my engine light came on, ( see other report) I took my car to J & L auto in Corona Ca and with a visual exam of my car saw a leak in my coolant system. Preformed a pressure check, and replaced the reserve tank, this save me a lot of heart acke in the coming months when I will need my air conditioner.
It pays to have your car check out.
Pays to know what the lights mean and not ignor them.
FYI, code 82 means you need an oil change, and besure the timer is reset. Easy to do. see next report
