The car has put my son's life in danger numerous occasions. From electrical failure to transmission failure. The issues have been reported numerous times and the car serviced for the issues by Chevrolet dealerships. The car has completely lost power while on the highway driving due to electrical failure and currently the transmission is broken, and the car cannot be driven safely. There is loss of propulsion due to the transmission pulleys and internal belt being damaged. The transmission was replaced by Chevrolet voluntarily due to mechanical failures the car was experiencing as identified by their letter dated February 2020 at 107,411 miles. On August 16, 2023, the car was returned to Chevrolet for the failure of the transmission at approx. 143,000 miles with the warning lamp illuminated. Chase Chevrolet Dealership Service Department confirmed the issue was due to internal mechanical failure and did not occur due to faulty operation or maintenance. Chase Chevrolet denied coverage for the repair and I contacted Chevrolet per the contact information on the letter dated 2/20 and reported the incident. Chevrolet service input the diagnosis information in the internal system for Chevrolet incident # 9-10494221135. Chevrolet representative Maya offered approx. $204 to cover the replacement of the transmission.

Seems like it should be replaced by manufacturer not me. This has been happening for months. It was seeming to come and go now it just all the time.

My daughter purchased this vehicle used in December 2019. Two weeks after she purchased it, the heating system had to be completely rebuilt. Now less than a week ago the a, /C system stopped blowing cold. She had to have the compressor replaced. Then two days later, the A/C stopped blowing cold again. Thai time it was the pressure switch on the low side. Her mechanic did some research and found that at some point GM issued a "recall" not exactly a recall, but a voluntary fix for A/C issues involving 2013 and 2014 Chevy Sparks. Apparently if the repair had not been made by 2016, then only applicable warranties would apply. Well, we didn't buy this vehicle until 2019, but the HVAC system has been nothing but trouble from the start. GM knows there was an issue with the HVAC systems back in 2014. How can they only repair faulty equipment for 2 years? a quick google search of "Chevy Spark ac issues" will lead to numerous reports of similar issues. GM needs to step up and take care of this issue for good!

Front and rear passenger and driver side airbags deployed without impact while taking a right turn, traveling approximately 10-15 mph from one side street to another. The impact of the airbag caused the driver to veer to the right striking the curb. Contacted GM and their investigation determined it was not a manufacturing issue. They denied the claim and would not pay for repairs. Currently waiting to hear back from the insurance company.

I believe there are some issues with the cars wirings. For the past few months in the middle of driving my brake warning signal and traction signal will come on the speedometer and the car will start making a dinging noise. The light never go off and maybe 30 minutes to an hour they start going off again.

I was driving on the highway and the engine light comes on. The car starts to stall. I went and got the codes read. Everything came back that its the transmission. Chevy claims they're not sure if the warranty will cover all the cost. The place I got the car from didn't even provide me with any carfaxs. I called them and they didn't give any solution. I am disappointed.

Car motor will not shut off when key is not in the ignition and ignition is in the off position. Car is still drive-able, it will switch gears and is able to be driven. Motor continues to run. Had to shut down car by taking out a fuse under the hood. Car is able to restart using key. A week later car motor will turn off, but the inside chime is going off, leaving car parked! I read other reports on the exact same issue.

Key fob hinge is faulty, made out of potter's metal I've had now 3 key's in the span of 3 year's break due to them breaking off at the hinge and the engine won't start due to the manufacturer having an anti theft protection. They key's will last for the span of approximately 10,000-15,000 miles then failure will happen shortly following. This effect's car's when trying to start.

Car accelerates on its own when braking which is highly dangerous in traffic as car jumps forward when it does this. Continuously runs at over 4000rpm. Car stalls when accelerating making pulling out into traffic or coming off an exit ramp quite difficult and will rev on its own while driving. Continuous engine noise as if car is being redlined. Car also has difficulty going in reverse. Emergency brake does not hold properly. Car will roll backward when in drive and on a small incline. Electrical issues with car where stereo will spontaneously change stations and the dash lights will flicker. Have made complaints to GM continuously and had in dealership more than 11 times for repair of issue. Car was bought in Feb 2015, first taken in to dealership for issue in Feb 2015. It is now Feb 2016 and GM refusing to address issue. Car falls under lemon law and they are stalling to wait out time frame.

I was driving down the street at 45 mph. It was at night. As soon as I went through the first green light, I accelerated (pushed on the gas). When I came upon the second light, I took my foot off the accelerator to brake. All of a sudden the accelerator was not working properly. It would not slow down. I tried applying the brakes, but it seemed as if the car was out of control. I could not steer right or anything. I hit to curbs and knocked down to city signs. The air bags did not deploy. The fire department along with ems got me out of the car. The car was totaled.
