Spark

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,000 miles

I had been driving the car for about 25 minutes and was stopped at a red light. As I was sitting at the red light, I felt the car shift under me twice. The light turned green, and I went to accelerate, but my car would only accelerate very, very slowly. I was not able to get higher than 35 mph, and by the time I got back to my apartment, my car couldn't accelerate for me to reverse into my parking spot. Partner had to come out and push me into the spot.

My car will turn on and everything but now, when I go to get in it and go somewhere, it will not accelerate when I push on the gas. Will be trading it in shortly. Sucks because I just paid the car off completely but it's going to cost me more to fix it than it's worth.

Spark 1LT

  • CVT transmission
  • 3,802 miles

Just accelerated to pass a bus. Once I pulled back in front of the bus, the dashboard lit up with several warning lights and the CVT went into high gear, causing rapid deceleration without activating the brake lights. This greated a gnarly situation on the highway with the bus right behind me.

The ESC warning light, check engine light with a down arrow, and another check engine light illuminated. OnStar told me the antilock brake system failed as well as a throttle control, warning that these faults can cause unexpected command codes to instruct the engine to shut down at speed. This created a VERY DANGEROUS situation with rapid and unexpected deceleration on the highway.
