problem #2

Suburban 1500 5.7L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

The engine started pinging at about 140,000 miles, and we researched the problem online, tried an inexpensive fuel system lubricant/cleaner (Lucas Oil Fuel Injector Cleaner) but that didn't solve the problem. Over a few months, the pinging started getting louder and louder and we were worried that it would be a terminal problem for the engine. Took the car into the shop and we were told there was a leak in the exhaust system. It cost $100 to diagnose and $200 to fix. Now our Suburban is running fine with no pinging whatsoever.

Suburban 2500

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

I've had a ticking noise on the right side between the dash and engine since I've owned the car and have had it looked at when the car was serviced by the dealer (it won't do it while the car at the dealer). It drives me nuts and is embarrassing because when you're anywhere near the car when this happens, you can hear it.
