problem #3

Suburban 4WD 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 104,000 miles
In July 2006 my rear passenger window started to not work all the time. The window would stick part way up, or down. The door hinges also started to squeak really bad. On one day while traveling with 4 young children in the back a child had opened the window about three inches, it then stuck. When we parked he tried to open the back door, the door stuck at about six inches open. An adult passenger pulled the door open. The window exploded in all directions spraying glass on all the children and the adult. The child had dozens of small cuts on his legs and arms. I had the window repaired, but the motor worked just fine at the body shop. On September 10th the same thing happened again. This time it was my 12 year old son who opened the sticky door. (the window was up this time) the window exploded again. He was cut all over his arms and the flying glass took paint off the door. I have the car at the body shop again and they will try and find the problem. The nearest Chevrolet dealer is 45 miles away, when I contacted them they were unaware of any problems with windows or door hinges on the Suburban. Since the car has not been in a wreck and has had medium usage this problem is very scary. These cars are thought of as reliable and safe family cars, built "Chevy tough". doors and windows should out last everything on the car!!!. please don't let any more children get hurt!!!
